Australia vs England 4th Ashes Test Day 2 Highlights

Watch cricket highlights: Australia vs England 4th Ashes Test, Day 2 from Headingley played on August 8, 2009.

Scoreline: Australia 445 all out: Marcus North 110, Michael Clarke 93, Stuart Clark 32 | Stuart Broad 6 wickets
England 82/5 – Mitchell Johnson 3, Hilfenhaus 2

Time for Ponting to calmly hold up a long finger (on his lips). He’s been by Johnson’s side all series, mollifying, cajoling and backing him – in fact doing everything short of stripping him and showering manly public love. And today, what was strongly hinted at in the 3rd Test on Day 4 finally occurred.

After Hilfenhaus had kickstarted things, Johnson’s 10 over spell was so on the upswing, had Ponting opted to play an extra half hour, there was a good possibility of something close to Johnson’s 7 wicket burst vs SA occurring and the test being wrapped up in 2 days.

Earlier, Marcus North got the hundred that eluded him last game, while Clarke paid an ode to the object of his puppy-love over the years (Slater) by getting out in the 90s – something he’d quite successfully almost achieved last game. Super stuff from the two to put the game quite beyond an English side lacking KP, even before Johnson-Hilfenhaus happened.

What the heck is wrong with English batsmen? Hats off to Australia. The game is sure to end tomorrow, just the third day (and most likely before lunch!!). The grand finale on the final test…hopefully it will be a more even match then. Bring Flintoff, bring Lee — bring it all — show the best test match of the series!!!

  2. Ndrobert says:

Unbelievable Australia and England only runs on Freedie and Pieterson ( This is reality)

  3. Mark Waugh says:

  10. Mark Waugh says:

Yeah true Fletch… Props to North and his form/stepping up in recent matches, but havent seen the remainder of the highlights yet to make an opinion at the time of post… Im not that biased as to who wins the test series, its just great watching skilled players like MC and Hussey.. I think they are classic stroke makers.

  11. Anthony Chameravera says:

Thanks mate for the clips. In the second video clip, does anyone know what was the issue that caused umpire Rauf to point fingers at Broad (At the 1:30 mark)?? Anyone see that incident and want to comment?

  17. Super Jam Pickle says:

    Well…
English were lucky to have the draw in the 1st test… in fact Australia were destroying them and they are doing it again. 2-1 it should be now… 2-1 it shall be in the end.
England are….. well… like little groomed boys getting their hides whooped by a nation that plays the game for the love of the game.
    WHAMMY.

  18. oz87 says:

what’s with the music in part II, at about 1:21?? who is that girl???

thx for the highlights… love it

  19. Jim says:

Love having the access to the highlights…
The bias in commentary and coverage is reflective of the culture – we do it in Oz also!
Shane Warne shouldn’t be tossing as a commentator, but the ‘bias’ usually tries to focus on a strong personality displaying an non-graceful cultural flaw.
    Celebrity Toss
    Good on yas

  20. Mark Waugh says:

Heh I dont think the commentary in Oz is as biased as the Poms… The poms seem well critical if the bowlers get smashed to the boundary and dont applaud the shots… MC played some great shots off Anderson when in all fairness they were not that bad a delivery.. he just whipped them through square and read ( or guessed ) the swing.. Waughishly

I’ve always backed Johnson… seems a lot of people wanted his scalp and doubted his quality.. to those people, smartn up!!

    Good work for Broad

Admin : please expalin the music… Im guessing you fell in love with that girl in the crowd and devoted a song to her… or is more complicated

It’s a little less complicated – saw her, song ran in my head, so dug it out and put it. That’s all. If anything, it’s dedicated to the guy next to her – Admin
