Earlier, England came out brimming with strokeplay and whatnot, almost attempting to overachieve (even with their fantastic form this tournament). Bresnan-Wright prevented an embarrassing total and though the two played super with smart nudges and aggression when required, they were helped in part by an Australian bowling performance that got ragged midway through. Collingwood does on the rare occasion slip into his current game, but one often welcomes his arrival to the middle with a quick adjust to the pillow. So whatever has been on offer this entire tournament has been fascinating to watch, while it lasts.
When players like Ponting set themselves to get a big one in certain games, they usually do. But England didn’t even try bringing on Swann early – by the time he came on, Ponting was 40 odd and pretty unconcerned. Especially about the short-pitched overdose that a bowling attack sans Broad didn’t have the pace to pull off.
If Watson has his head aligned the right way with his bat, he’s one of the more aesthetic views in cricket. Today might not have been afternoon-nap-on-a-haystack, but he definitely was in the barn munching away at a long piece of straw

Well today it seems to be a fantastic match never know who will win before match. Two strong team can always give you a good vibe when they come across to clash with each other. I hope England have implemented some new game strategy within the team.

Its going to be mighty difficult for England to defeat Australia. England just before the Champions trophy badly lost an ODI series to Australia. Also, they don’t have neither Kevin Peterson nor Flintoff. Australia Vs Pakistan for the final.

It will be very tough for England to beat Australia as they are under pressure after losing 6-1 in recently played ODI in England. It will be a miracle if Australia loses this match.

Sandy-Why is it a risk to drop bopara? his averaged 14 in the past 10 matches…. Huge risk *roles eyes* I bet you poms are going to say you only lost cos he wasn’t on your side. The fact is the poms can’t play cricket for dog sh*t, the flooked 2 early wins in the champs trophy, and the poms can only win if the weather is on there side or the umpire is giving shit dissions in a test match

@powerplay: Dailymotion’s been down for the last week and got fine just yesterday. The reload error was what used to be displayed when it was down. Perhaps a temporary relapse as it’s fine now. The new tab thing happens when you click within the playing area of the video (happens usually with most embedded videos) – if you click on the play button, this won’t happen.

Australia really set this game up with those first 4 wickets all coming off very good catches.
I don’t know why England bowled short for so long, to WAtson and Ponting. They’ve only got a couple fast bowlers – so I could understand if they were trying to bounce them out, but all their medium pacers were doing it consistently – easy runs.
How good’s Ponting? What a legend!

England have been useless at ODI cricket for a long, long time, and were lucky to fluke a win and get to the semis. An awful, awful team of workmanlike players – no stars at all. Stick to county cricket until you’re good enough for international opposition again (might be never).
Wow, Ricky Ponting is such class. Really good knock by him, and good stuff from Watson as well his bowling has picked up recently.
