No coverage (for me) of SA vs Zim – so won’t be able to do so

Watch cricket highlights: Australia vs India – the 6th ODI played at Guwahati on November 8, 2009.

Scoreline: India 170 all out Praveen Kumar 54 (51), Ravindra Jadeja 57 (103) | Doug Bollinger 10-4-35-5, Mitchell Johnson 3
Aus get there fairly comfortable in the 42nd over: Shane Watson 49 (49), Mike Hussey 35 no (62) | Harbhajan 10-1-23-2

Just that opening over of Johnson was enough to dispel all talk (if any) regarding his form. You add to it the fact that barring a caning in the 3rd ODI he’s had Sehwag in a tight grip all series and most would regard this as a good series for him.

Unlike with someone like Yuvraj, the seasoned Tendulkar fan can (90/100 times) make out after a few minutes if Sachin’s going to have a good game and the feeling was certainly in the air today. The shot he eventually got out to brought him a lot of runs in the last game and was incited by dismissals early-series to outside-off bowling. Different pitch and unfortunately, didn’t work today.

Praveen Kumar has done a fair bit with the bat all series but today was a proper exhibition of what people like myself have been hollering on about for the last 2 years. And unlike with Agarkar, this time I doubt it’s going to be anywhere as disappointing over the next few years. I’ve never liked Jadeja so a day when he topscored and was super with the ball is probably a good day to put a lid on. However, must slip in the fact that a situation like this is what he’s tailormade for. Most ODIs don’t see a team at 30 or so for 5 and what you need at No 7 is a Yusuf (who can also bowl as well) or an Uthappa.

At the peak of their powers, Australia shocked others with their bench strength, particularly in ODI cricket. They then went on to piddle on the rest of the cricketing world by introducing a preposterous rotation policy. Having seen what each of the replacements this series have been able to produce (barring to a certain extent Voges, who did put on a show in the field however), most would agree that Australia serendipitously seems to have stumbled onto an eerily unlit park bench seating Bollinger scratching away at his nethers joyously, among others.

Considering that Ishanth is bound to return anytime soon, a mention must be made of a new word in Munaf’s lingo on a cricket field. All these years it was made up of just two words – Cummmon bhenc**d, irrespective of the emotion he intended to convey. Now it’s Caaatch. This was particularly on show in the last game when Watson was clouting him all around.

The Aussie chase might have been secured with an efficient leash by Hussey but it was all but finished off by Shane Watson, when he made sure he didn’t let even a marginally hittable ball go by. Those were some nervy moments early on with Jadeja on a romp, but every four he smacked progressively sank all Indian hopes.

Man, that final video is taking a while to process. So enough time to move to the toss. A rare toss-win for Dhoni and he makes a certain choice. Can’t really crib about what turned out to be a horrible decision, because he made his choice backing the top-order to survive an hour of morning swinging conditions thereby giving the team the best chance for a win, considering spin came into play in the 2nd innings. If anything, it showed a mistrust in the batsmen chasing, and an unsureness about Praveen Kumar/Nehra putting the morning conditions to use – if there was any time of the day, Munaf looked like he might be of some use, it was in the first hour of play. So Mumbai it is then that shall decide whether it is 5-2 or 4-3.

At the last Pakistan Zindabad.

ricky pointing is a very suck bestman in the history of cricket with his team australia. And india is world’s number 1 cricket team.

  24. nisar says:

Australians played very well without their experienced players.

  25. Indiana says:

I don’t understand why Pakistan comments are being posted in an India Australia match. When was the last time Pakistan hosted any type of an international match?

Yes the Indian team is performing poorly, and they have only themselves to blame. A little bit of swing and our top order batsmen can’t deal with it? Shame on the Indians, personally I think they’ve been paid too much for what they’re worth. After their infamous exit from the last 50 over world cup, a protest demonstration somewhere in India said it all “Vigyapan mein sher, maidan mein chuhey”
Congratulations Ricky, Australia seem to have youngsters worthy of carrying on the australian spirit of winning.
We the Indians, in the mean time, will make sure that our cricketers are paid well by the ads. Afterall, the ads run 24 hrs a day, where as the games are only once in a while; besides the Indian public has a very short memory… One victory will reset the pain of the past!!

Have to remove your comment as it raises non-cricketing issues, however justified your irritation at being needled might be – Admin

  27. Sam is a moron says:

sam the last we were down under we won the cb finals 2-0 so nothing to learn from you there. before that during the tests you tried to teach us to cheat but we refused to learn. the only thing india needs to learn is to win close games which australia do very well and which makes them a champion side. 3 odi were lost by few runs and thats the difference in the series. well done australia but a big boo to its supporters

  28. Yuvraj says:

I think the 2 early wickets in the first over was the crucial factor.

India couldn’t really come out of the early set back and Aussies really choked everything from there on…

Well this is International Cricket at it’s best and this how good teams like Aus capitalize from just 1 or 2 mistakes and take the game away.

Got to Learn a lot, India. Dhoni, Harbhajan and especially Gambhir got to go for an Attitude test, They’re not learning anything from Tendulkar, who is there for so many years and still haven’t got any attitude problem and that’s why he’s still no. 1

  29. Rahul says:

India should won this series. This is war between India vs Austrailia B team because more than half Austrailia team were injured. Indian players play for money not for country. Dhoni is best talker not good player ,he never perform in big game like T20 world cup , champion trophy and always complain about too much cricket but never complain in IPL and etc. Where is Indian bowling ? .

  30. *austrilia* says:

shut up austrlia won so what i am happy u r happy my dad is happy my atom bomb is happy and my plane is happy but my poo is sad!

  31. singh says:

just like their coach Gary said that indian team needs to improve their sex life to increase their testosteron strength.
he is right because there is an old saying:
“behind a successful man is a women”

  32. paki says:

    india lost the series

    so bad for india

so india should try in 7th odi

    all the best india

  33. MR KHAN says:

    hi……..india just get fked….

they loose t20,thn they lost icc championtrophy, pakistan beat india badly.

now Australia kicked there ass on there home grounds…..shameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  34. Jr Waugh says:

Johnno… fair nadgers. nice swing bowling and nice erratic stuff too :-P

tough luck for Youvraj and Dhoni.

Shame on you Indians not supporting your nation… shame shame

As for Bollingers ballingers… he might have picked something up in India :-P

    aap kese ho!! :-P

  35. Rizwan says:

    good job man

  36. cakehammer says:

    Bollinger what a champion

  37. Fuad says:

aussie is the best nd it is now proved…they r very commited to win nd they do so whatever the best 11 is!!! i think everybody should agree with me because they have done well…at the mean time india had good time at international cricket for last one and half years…bt they are not as good as aussie are!!!every time india has lost there way in world cup or in big tournaments…so i think no further arguments that aussie is good than india nd india should recover the mistakes they did(….!!!!!!!
