thank you so much for these highlights, watched the game on TV last night but it’s nice to relive it over and over. I wanted to go to the next match in Auckland but my slackarse family reckoned Aussie would thrash us every game so didn’t want to go. C’mon Black Caps at Eden Park!!

Oh, and about Johnson. Give him a break. He was getting belted at a time when the game was still in balance. If you’re a bowler then that’s about as frustrating as it gets. This might not excuse his behavior but it probably explains it.

@guyana — you seem to insinuate that umpires are in the bag for Aus? Okay, then how about when Styris was a clear LBW to Watson right there near the end? Two other times earlier, at crucial points in the match, the ump ruled against LBW appeals by Aus that had the ball going on to hit the stumps.

So umpires went 0-3 in decisions against Aus that were very close calls, that could’ve gone either way, any of which would might have turned into an Aus win had the finger gone up.

So what do you have to say about that, mate? Why not just be gracious for once and acknowledge that there is no conspiracy among umps or anyone else to guarantee Aus victories?

Enough with that ridiculous stuff, eh?

But the way WI got thrashed in Oz has probably left you a tad bitter, I’d guess. Okay, I get it then.

Fantastic win by Kiwis — McCullum, again, Taylor, and Styris, especially, all came through to guarantee it. Thoroughly well deserved.

For some reason, Aus fielding was far below its usual standard. Don’t know why but it sometimes happens like that. Probably due in this case to the pressure put on by the Kiwis, I think.

Anyway, Ponting was right — 275 runs wasn’t enough to defend on that wicket, with so many good NZ bats to come. Kiwis really have their steam up now and Aus will have to dig deep to turn it around. But can they?

Can’t wait to see what happens . . .

(BTW, the umps weren’t in the bag for NZ either. Over time, every team gets about the same number of close calls go against them as for them. It evens out.)
