Pakistan today lost the day while fielding, but when they batted, rather than harakiri, it was about Aus winning it from them with good bowling (not necessarily sensational like Pakistan on Day 1) and perfect fielding when it counted – decent catches, spectacular catches and the pressure catches all taken.
Hauritz deserves all credit for yet another 5, but for me, Mitchell Johnson was the next most important after Hussey-Siddle in this win – on a pitch diagnosed as decent by the experts out there, to create wickets where none existed is not about luck but more about being a champion (I’m beginning to hate myself for using this every time he comes up here). And the most important of all – the Umar Akmal catch; the initial sprint and perfect judgment – brilliant. Just listen to Ponting post-match and you’ll know why Umar was the match.

This test match shows both teams’ strengths and some areas of weakness. Australia can be vulnerable, but Pak really need to improve their fielding too.

pakistan batting lineup is really struggling because of irresponsible middle order batsmen. Younis could be considered for this series. PCB should respect quality players in pakistan like younis,shoaib,razzak and afridi.

After the bastardly acts by the BCCI&rest of the cricket world alienating pakistan,I always supported pakistan over any team.But still I believe a test match victory in Australia is much much greater achievement than some mini cricket like T20 world cup.When I saw the openors batting I thought they’d pulled it off,but still what is their problem.This Australian team sucks seriously.Its 3rd class.There is no Mcgrath,warne or lee.They are not even comparable to pakistani fast bowlers,but its the mental block which let them down.
I seriously dont know why easy singles when kaneria was bowling to hussey.He produced 3 edges and because of absolute rubbishness by Yousuf Hussey got away.Add to that wonderful catching,what the hell!

Australia won the match due to their strong mental strenght! Whereas the main cause of Pakistan loss is lacking of their self belief.

What the fu*k was that.i think some steps have 2 b taken now and all co*ksuckers lickin the balls of stupid ijaz butt should b fired with the man himself.
Australia deserved this win. They could have been out of the match at the end of day 2 but they took late wickets which kept them in it. The openng stand was good in the second innings between Watson and Hughes and a briliant husset kept them in and the bowlers (and Pak batsman not realising they were wearing white, not green 2020 clothes) won the match. Hauritz doesn’t have great variations or spin it a country mile but he has a good arm ball and is accurate and gets wickets.

North should go and if hilfy is fit it will be a tough call for selectors to get rid of either Bolly or Siddle. Bolli has been getting constistent wickets but Siddle just won the match with his batting. Who goes?

First of all thanks admin…brilliant videos and highlights…secondly whenever the Pakistani team performs we say oh he is that he is this good and praise them. But when they lose (even as bad as today)we talk about changing captain, team selector, board chairman…sacking some players…this wont help trust me…becuz for example kamran is a brilliant keeper..its just one match that hes struggled with the glove so wats the point of chucking him out…they gave mathew hayden of australia a chance for 2 years and his average score for 15….but he came out with a double hundred in a test and 5 fiftes consecutively and 3 hundreds in one day….so we need to give a chance to our openers…we just need to change our middle order cuz misbah and faisal have had a bare chance with no good performances…replace them with younis and malik or asim kamal,.,.,,thanks again admin

sorry to all our Pakistani fans. If only we had survived for long enough, the test could have very likely been ours. But regardless of the outcome, this test showed the world that Pakistan is still a formidable team that can put up a good game.
I would have wished for Younis Khan to have been included in this test, as he might have stabilised the game, especially by partnering with Yosuf, as both are experienced and are ‘old school’.
But it seems PCB knows better.
Good luck to the team for the next match. I am not keeping my hopes high for a win. But would expect them to fight hard through to the end.
I tink the pakistani lost the match in there first inining,when they should have scored more than 400 runs ,as they were not under any pressure ,but instead of that they played like a 20 20 match.I cant say it as bad lcuk but a team were players dont take responsiblity and they are playing internation cricket from last many years and ther fielding is not of village level teams .

I really saw difference in our bowling since Waqar joined as bowler coach. We need special coach for batsman like Javed Miandad. If Javed join the same team as coach, i promise you he will keep all the time batsman buzy during matches.

From a position of such strength, and imminent defeat for Australia, poor fielding tactics – and poor fielding itself – caused them to rue the day. When they should’ve been attacking the last two Australian batsmen, they chose not to take the initiative. It truly befuddles me.
Pakistan have tremendous talent, but a lack of leadership, a paralytic state of initiative, of good tactics and of quick thinking are causing them to lose far more matches than they’re winning.
Here’s to a turnaround in their fortunes, and to some good cricket against India!

Feel sorry for Pakistan, they have a fabulous bowling attack. it really was lack of test experience in terms of captaincy on the last day and the inexperience of the batting line up that led to the loss, apart from that the Australians were too experienced to give up on the opportunities presented by the poor fielding of Pakistan. But in the end it was a great wicket for a test match a real test of skill.
Poor fielding, 4 dropped catches, 3-4 early wickets. 100 runs 9th wicket partnership for Oz, and blame bowlers ? why ? what if 4th or 5th wicket had a big partnershi and lower order had collapsed and still there is target of 176 ? After all these, 176 is always a gettable target, you can not ask for lower atrgets. You cant get such low targets often. Its all batsmen fault. They can not pass some time on crease when bowlers are bowling well ? If you see the balls they got out at, most of the wicket taking deliveries were ordinary. It appears that 3 figure target for paki is tooooooooo big.
suggestion : If they play with all bowlers, no specialised batsman may be they have better chance of winning. As there is no difference between batsmen and bowlers, when it comes to batting.
Stupid Kamran Akmal, i would like to slap him…. That was realy bad cricket by pakistan. They cound have win it easyly if Kamran Akmal had not drop those catches.
I think of another reason for such a fall. It looks like bomb explosions in Pak is disturbing pak cricketers and thats why they can not bat well. They are psychologically affected by every bomb blast. Thats why they drop catches and can not field properly.

I wouldn’t get too carried away by this match. Australia only won against hyped up but in reality very mediocre pakistan side. Pakistan has one batsman yousuf. Two akmals are just sloggers, Openers are non existant. Bowling it nothing to shout home about. Asif, gul, and rest of the company are just run of the mill trundlers. They weren’t even able to dislodge australian tail easily this morning. Still nothing should be taken away from Australia.
PCB should print this page out and read the comments. They will get a good idea of what they should be doing.
Anyhow Pakistani fans, don’t depsair. Shit happens, but we got tons of experience out of this tournament. We have the one day series to look forward to now with Shahid having been practicing in South Australia, Younus could be in by that time inshAllah, and things will
become fine for that series. Tests, well lets face it, its not as if we were the best test team before. But we broke a huge period of absence by playing one of the best teams and showing them that they are not as good as they think they are.
This pakistani team doesn’t do jusice to talents of Umar Akmal and Mohammed Aamer. Pathetic performance…. For some reason they are having hard time overcoming the ghost of sydney. Once Aussies were on the rug, pakistan shouldn’t have given them any oppurtunity.

As an Australian and supporter of Oz cricket, I still have to say that, in all honesty, I gave them no chance of winning or of even getting a draw going into day 4.
In fact, I’d have probably bet the house Pak would take it easily, based mostly on the tremendous bowling effort on day 1.
Everyone is praising Hussey or blaming Akmal but as I see it the biggest key to the Oz win was Siddle staying at the crease with Hussey for so long. If he goes out for a duck or so, Pak only has to chase about 100 runs . . .
Anyway, after Hussey-Siddle partnership, if everything goes perfectly, Oz has a chance. Well, it did go pretty much perfectly, and Hauritz’s catch of Yousuf was symbolic of the superior performance they needed as a team.
Don’t forget that Ponting set the right fields and kept Hauritz going (after getting belted) and turned up the degree of pressure.
Pakistan is a very good team with as good a bowling attack as any in cricket, especially with Aamer an up and coming champion.
Incredible match — shows how unpredictable cricket can be, which is why it is the best sport of all.
Still cannot believe Oz got Pak all out for 139 on a bowler’s wicket.
Amazing how things turn out sometimes. The whole time, Oz believed they could win, and they did.

One of those caught behinds showed nothing on hotspot or snicko, yet I believed he hit it. The batsmen looked guilty too and there was a sound with the bat nowhere near the pad/ground. So that proves whilst it’s a good aid, it shouldn’t be considered gospel.
My understanding of hotspot is that it’s infrared detector – so anything generating heat (friction of ball hitting whatever) will show up. So I spose the knicks must be that faint, that minimal heat is transferred to the bat?

An outstanding cricket from Australia, their bowling, batting in the II innings, their catching and OF ALL, their URGE TO WIN..a single minded dedication to WIN, to play solid cricket..pushed them and soared their confidence high and made them look a FAR better than Pakistan. I feel sorry for Pakistan, their hard working bowlers especially Sami, Asif and Gul. Their increditable and matching winning performance was thrown in the kitchen sink by their batsmen, WICKET KEEPER and CAPTAIN. Its hard to believe that Pakistan cannot find a better keeper than Kamran Akmal. He has looked like a JOKER before and looks is a JOKER now.
As for Australia.. BRAVO Australia.. awesome cricket..HATS OFF… CONGRATS..

Very interesting test match no doubt, but in terms of test tactics its got to be one of the worst displays by Pakistan. Starting from the Captain’s negative field placing in the first session, and then the fact that all the Pakistani batsmen thinking that they had to reach the target in 20 overs and going into self-destruct mode. This was their best chance to beat Aus in their own back garden. Shocking… What a waste of a talented team. I think this is a result of the sub-continent mentality that a fast scoring batsmen is far better and cooler than a conventional one with a watertight technique.. I truly hope this changes…
shahid afridi,abdul razzaq and younis khan should be called for the third test and misbah,kamran and faisal igbal should be sent back to pakistan and afridi should be named captain for test and one day side and about the second test pakistan did not deserve to win and australia did
I still believe the current pakistani team was far far better than the current Australian team without any good bowlers.Where is Mggrath&Warne?Who is Hauritz a simple off spinner.If pakistan who plays spin well gets out to an offie(not even a wrist spinner like kaneria) then the problem is seriously mental more than anything else.They proved that pakistan was the better team till the 4th day when their nerves got the better of them hitting out to a poor offie like Hauritz.He is not shane warne,ofcourse not.And pakistan even played much quality off spinners like Harbhajan better.

Pakistan has had lot of glamorous/ exciting cricketers like shoaib akhtar, afridi etc etc but its time to look for some proper players who can play cricket as their profession. what we got at the moment is bunch of nut-cases just coming to park for a laugh. keep aamer & asif in the team coz they are potentially good & sack the rest. find players on merit and stop getting insulted. look at hussey he s a fu*king ugly bastered but he plays like a professional, does his job like most aussies. so no more glamour models plz
people like akmal bros, shoaib malik, afridi,etc they have talent but lack certainty; you can never rely on them. they wud probably look good playing in local clubs just for fun, they dont deserve to be in national team.

Pakistani players believe much in prayers than hardwork. Mohammad Yusuf (Yusuf Yohana) has grown long beard but lacks captaincy skills. His batsmen fell like a pack of cards. Aussies got one chance and they were back into the match. I can’t understand why Misbah is in the team. Their batsmen are a bunch of T-20 kids. They will lose in Hobart too.
Suggestion: Give captaincy to Afridi… he has command over the side.

This was the bightest chance to have Aussie under and level the series but same old story.Aussie are known for not leaving the match and Pakistanis were gifting them their wickets.I am big fan of Misbah but had been disappointed while watching him in this series.Openers need to do their job , they are doing good but not good enough.Faisal Iqbal does not seems to be mature enough for test cricket.But Umar Akmal and the bowling attack have been the real positives out of this.Not a problem guys, their is still one more chance.Come on.
