Australia vs South Africa 1st Test Highlights Day 1

Part 2

Watch Cricket highlights: South Africa vs Australia Day 1 highlights of the 1st test 2009 played at Johannesburg.

Scoreline: Aus 254/5 Ricky Ponting 83, Michael Clarke 68, Brad Haddin 37 no, Marcus North 47no

An exciting beginning to another good cricket series. With the South African pace bowlers (Dale Steyn in particular) strutting their thing, it looked like a Ricky Ponting solo special was on hand until he found company in Michael Clarke post-lunch. Ponting was a bit lucky when Graeme Smith dropped him on 40, and in hindsight, things might have been more towards SA by end of day’s play, if Smith had held on. Two debuts for Australia – Phil Hughes and Marcus North. Of the two, North stuck it out and was looking pretty cool in the company of Haddin when bad light raised a premature lid on play today. Neil McKenzie produced a stunner and that was that for today.

Pre-play: SA and Australia resume things once again.
South Africa: Graeme Smith, Neil McKenzie, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Mark Boucher (wk), Morne Morkel, Paul Harris, Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini
Australia: Phil Hughes (young debutant), Simon Katich, Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey, Michael Clarke, Marcus North (debut), Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle, Andrew Macdonald, Ben Hilfenhaus

The usual problem with not being able to view a video happens when there’s a surge in people watching a video at a given moment – (happens usually only with india-centric limited overs games). If the vid doesn’t load, wait for a while and then refresh the page. Normal browser settings should be fine apart from a flash player plugin (the usual one to view most videos on the net)
