Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI Highlights

SA Bat

Watch cricket highlights – Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI highlights 2009 from Johannesburg.

Scoreline: Australia 303/7. Brad Haddin 62, Michael Clarke 66, Callum Ferguson 41, Mike Hussey 49, Ricky Ponting 40. SA 256 all out – Herschelle Gibbs 82, Kallis 64

The South African chase was on big-time while Gibbs was going with Kallis. At the fall of Gibbs, SA were 150 in the 28th over, but things fell away after that. In a way, the SA chase mirrored the Australian batting except that more of the Aussie top order were able to make sizeable contributions and also get the boundaries away.

Brad Haddin played yet again beautifully and through lots of top order contributions Australia were still able to go past 300 despite faltering majorly after the start from Haddin and Clarke. Callum Ferguson yet again looked headed to a 50 – his typical intelligent shot-placement on display here.

Lets all agree that Dussey is overrated, and get Marsh back in… Good first class player, but certainly cannot replicate this in the international sphere against good quality bowlers. Anymore persistence w/t him we have to start questioning whether it is some marketing strategy having the hussey brothers playing

Well, it was good to see Oz win one after such a long dry spell. Oz won test series but lost ODI series. As an Australian, I think SA is the better team, with their batting deeper and more consistent. But I think Johnson is maturing as a strike bowler and is up there with Steyn as world’s best at the moment.
