Watch cricket highlights: England vs Australia 1st Test, Day 3 from Cardiff – Ashes 2009.
Scoreline: Aus 479/5: Ponting adds 50 (150), Michael Clarke 83, Marcus North 54
A more freely-playing Ponting was on show in the morning session as Monty Panesar blended further and further into a grim no-nonsense looking KP on the boundary advertising hoardings. A brilliant Azhar-like back-flick later, Monty’s moment eventually arrived – getting Ponting playing a shot that had until then fetched him quite a few runs. To Monty’s credit, his leap was a bit subdued and he did have an ok spell after that which lasted around an over perhaps.
The spin-and-bounce boy of the day was however Collingwood with his off-cutters into the rough that enlivened the later part of the day which was mostly about Clarke and North with his Laraesque elbowtwitch filling the gaps in the field with well-placed singles and twos. Clarke seemed to be getting back his I find Slater erotic feet movements, while North emphasized why he’s ideal at No 6 with Haddin and Johnson to come.
If the commentators on air are to be believed, quite a bit of rain tomorrow, so England, though pleased at a revived Clarke’s exit yet again towards close of play, have the draw and lose cards in their pockets. Which one will they pick out tomorrow.

Sapo (the video site) tends to limit the speed of data transfer irrespective of connection speed. So apart from leaving it on, hitting the pause button, taking a walk/couple of smokes, coming back and watching it, there doesn’t seem too much else that can be done.
