SA 301/9 Graeme Smith 141 (134) – James Anderson
Didn’t watch the England innings live and had to rely on an abridged repeat, which is a pity, cos it means the Morgan-Shah knocks aren’t as comprehensive here as I’d have preferred to make them.
Smith wasn’t his fluent best for the most part but considering he’s one of those players who doesn’t need to be fluent to score heavy, it didn’t matter eventually. For England, Anderson piddled on viewers like myself who think he’s good only in helpful conditions. SA out, SL’s hopes are now dependent on an England win vs NZ.

england v sa is a vital game for the hosts and worthy of getting top spot in your billing
3 reasons:
The day/nighters are well past the witching hours (for me) and will be delayed anyhow (unless they involve Tendulkar)
Had stepped out of my hovel for a breather with cricket the last thing on my mind – left the recording on for the first game of the day.
Considering I have a bias for the Top 4 of the NZ team, it is likely my subconscious did have cricket on its mind.
