Watch cricket highlights of the 4th ODI – England vs West Indies – played at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on March 31, 2009. A delayed post.
Scoreline: WI 239/9 – Dwayne Bravo 69 Chris Gayle 46. England under revised D/L rules – 136/1 in 18.3 win with more than an over to spare. Andrew Strauss 79 (61)
Chris Gayle launched into what appeared to be a repeat of the 3rd ODI, but to England’s credit they kept at it and barring a late charge by Bravo didn’t allow the rest of the West Indies batsmen to take off. Andrew Strauss rather than wilting under the revised 6.75 runs-an-over target opted to go for it and despite a controversial was-he-wasn’t-he out moment single-handedly pulled it off for England.
The commentators had a ball over a funny moment when Kevin Pietersen retired-hurt after 5 deliveries to Chanderpaul. KP had in an interview to the Daily Mail said about Chanderpaul, “Every time he gets runs he never fields. There’s always an injury or something. That has really got on my nerves here. It leads me to think he plays for himself.”
Steve Bucknor retired from umpiring after this game and having seen him in matches involving India over the years, I couldn’t care less (the SCG affair was the culmination rather than a blip).
Good bye steve Buknor
over all a good career
This is a really sad moment in the history of cricket…Steve Bucknor leaving! Congratulations for a fantastic career. [8)]
