Watch cricket highlights – India vs New Zealand – Day 3 highlights from the 2nd Napier Test.
Scoreline: India 305 all out – VVS Laxman 76, Rahul Dravid 83, Sachin Tendulkar 49. India follow on and were 47/1.
India resumed today with Dravid and Tendulkar bearing the cumbersome onus of battling out a draw for India.Tendulkar was divine while he was at it – Dravid was semi-vintage in patches and scrappy in others – that was still good enough to get him 83. But the best batting of the day came from VVS who pulled out all his flicks and drives.
The good thing though India ended up following on was that everyone looked pretty intent on getting on with the game and not stepping into that resigned tortured mode we’ve seen so often over the years.
Some of the NZ commentators described Sehwag’s dismissal as arrogant but it’s that sort of game that set up the recent famous win over England at Chennai. If it hadn’t come off that day he’d have looked dumb. But since it did, he was given the Man of the Match despite Tendulkar’s hundred that won the game on Day 5.
It’s still a little too early to describe this test as being gone from India’s point of view – the follow on might actually work to their advantage. For those who love reveling in nostalgia, take a look at VVS vs Australia

1st of all, Sehwag’s dismissal wasn’t arrogant. well you cant help it if bowlers like patel and fraklin and company bowls at u. only world class act they have is vettory. other r just rubbish (comparing with other front line bowlers around the world). so even if i was batting i would have gone after dolly bowlers like them. sorry mate (the NZ commentators) u guyz just don’t see it; even after nearly white wash in ODI’s and complete dominancy in the 1st test. help you self.

India looked great at times – esp VVS, but all lost concentration.
Neutral – NZ’s bowlers did pretty well today considering they’re rubbish!
Realistically speaking, no hope of India winning this match – a draw is a 20% possibility with New Zealand win at 80% in my opinion. Sad, but may be someday we will develop the habit of not being overconfident.

You just supported the case that Sehwag’s dismissal WAS arrogant with your argument!
I think Sehwag’s dismissal is due to poor shot selection and poor thinking. The previous ball he had hit for a 4. He should have just defended the next ball or take a single after hitting the previous ball for a boundary. Speaking of arrogance, he is always arrogant in all forms of the game against all teams in any situation. That’s the way he plays. As simple as that.
There is only one rubbish bowling attack in this test… the one that gave away 619 against the 8th ranked test team.
That said, Dravid and Tendulkar played some lovely shots yesterday, and if they get in today, it’ll be hard for NZ to break through. I’d say it’s 50% NZ win, 40% Draw, 10% India win.

Dude I’m no one to moral police anyone – As explained in the About the Site page, there are some areas that users are requested to take it easy on – for the simple reason that people with varied cultural backgrounds visit the site for highlights and getting into colour, religion, cultural identity etc can cause a mini-explosion in the comments section.
