India vs New Zealand Highlights 3rd Test Day 5

Post-match

Watch cricket highlights – India vs New Zealand 3rd Test highlights Day 5

Scoreline: NZ 281/8 – Ross Taylor 107, James Franklin 49. Match drawn following rain.

A beautiful hundred by Ross Taylor with support from James Franklin kept India out for a lot of the morning session. It eventually came down to a Sachin Tendulkar spell that uprooted Franklin and McCullum. The umpiring today wasn’t the best and if play had resumed, that could well have created a result in this test. It’s been a while since Tendulkar has bowled in any form of cricket considering his recent spate of injuries. But always good to watch when it happens. For eg: take a look at this – Sachin Tendulkar vs Moin Khan

Whenever a test ends precariously there’s always going to be hindsight thoughts about the declaration (if any) – this is something Dhoni has shown as captain – he’s not really the aggressive captain he’s often made out to be – we saw that during the India-Aus series. Very good captain (in man-management especially), but when it comes to getting a result, he tends to be more interested in the overall series result rather than individual test match results. Even while batting, it was Yuvraj who was looking for the big hits while Dhoni seemed to have a different perspective – grind ‘em out in the field. Makes sense in hot sunny conditions but not when the weather is overcast.

In any case, credit to NZ and Ross Taylor in particular for getting themselves into a draw situation when the series looked headed 2-0 after their 1st innings batting performance.

Rahul Dravid speaks in the 2nd video after getting felicitated for his world record. For years, those who watched Indian cricket closely wondered why Dravid was never given credit for his close-in fielding skills – especially fielding to someone like Anil Kumble on Day 5 Indian pitches. Super reflexes and so many astounding catches later, Dravid has finally wrenched some credit for himself.

good series on the whole, unlike Australia vs India or England vs India, which are full of sledging and controversies(mostly Aus vs Ind).

    currently unavailable?

Admin can you fix please? thanks – we all appreciate.

I will not eat until video is up – fasting like Ghandi! :)

The experiment with the new player seems to have failed. It took them just a day to boot the vids. So its back to Sapo my friends until a suitable alternative can be found – do understand that as far as possible I’d like to maintain quality of the videos (higher encoding). For eg: the 1st video is of the regular higher quality type while the 2nd one (presentation) is of a lower quality. Lower qlty will buffer a little faster. Am trying to find a video site that maintains qlty while also keeping vids up as long as possible. Would like to hear from users with 1mbps+ connections if Sapo is still slow – ListenUp

thanks mate – I was getting hungry too! :)

Some interesting umpiring today – a couple LBW’s should’ve been given and a couple knicks shouldn’t have – but anyway it evened out – usually seems to.

    Congrats to Dravid.

  15. abc says:

hi admin, how about youtube? you can upload there
to save on bandwidth and just link to the videos
    from this site?

  16. Jack says:

    ListenUp,

I have 6.5 mpbs connection. Sapo videos buffer perfectly fine.

  17. jim says:

I have a 3mb connection and sapo vids are painfully slow. Certainly cant click and watch. Other format was fast and good

  18. admin says:

Problem with Youtube and Magnify is the unstable duration of them staying up. Anyway, will try out another player for the next game.

  19. abc says:

that lbw appeal by harbhajan towards the end (on Vettori
    I think) was pretty plumb!
