The Paul Harris line vis-a-vis the Indian batsmen in the next test is going to be an intriguing one. Particularly if it occurs with India batting first or in a less tragic situation than here. If the batsmen are as good as some of us believe they are, they’ll do something about it like Sachin (for the most part) and the lower order (in parts) did today, even with all the supporting-cast field placings. Alistair Cook recently got back into alleged form by taking most of his runs off Harris with his stock midwicket shot – similarly, left-handed Gambhir vs Harris will be worth a watch. That’s that about the rash in the SA bowling attack. Onto pleasanter aspects, Parnell looked better today and if Steyn-Morkel can replicate anything close to this test, it’s going to be a salivatory Kolkata test.
Finally, for his pissing-off hand in Sachin’s exit today – if there is anything such as an afterlife, hope Harris gets to live it for eternity with his left buttock repeatedly jabbed with a sewing needle.

damn shame….didnt perform like a team sitting @ 2nd place in ICC and aiming for 1st….but south africa most certainly did prove why they deserve the No. 1 Spot.
Well, after seeing Zaheer Khan and Singh play so many shots and the ball not carrying through to the wicket-keeper, one has to realise just how brilliantly the Saffers bowled. Once again, SRT makes a 100 in a losing cause and even he needed a drop catch to get there. I must say also that Saha did not do all that bad, in fact I rather see him bat than Dhoni scratch about awkwardly :s This sets up the 2nd match beautifully, I expect and Ind backlash and maybe a whisper* a SA choke lol.

One of the ex cricketers said, it will b hard for India to get to the no1 spot with the balling lineup they have. I recon they are missing 2 genuine pace bowlers. Only reason visiting teams win in India is with genuine pace attack, not many spinners have done well in India to take them to a series victory. In saying that, this is only the 1st test, if India is to bounce back and win the series it will have to go down in the history as one of the greatest come backs. A very intense series ahead, may the best team gain the no1 spot.
@ kumnhakarna who responded even though he or she implies they did not respond…The opposition won’t ever mind if Sachin makes 100 and Ind lose, they will enjoy the treat of being entertained by a great batsman whilst celebrating their victory. In other words…I am not putting him down, I’m actually sorry for him that many o his knocks don’t come with victories, sorry if my comments don’t come across as Sachin worshipping, I don’t worship any player…I don’t need a hero lolz!

@sukiriya, what are you talking about?? India is the no. 1 team and SA the no. 2 team in the ICC test rankings. They will change if India doesn’t win at Eden, but at least till then, it is India 1 and SA 2. So you should have said India didn’t play like the no. 1 team; not no. 2 team! Of course, if SA win or draw at Eden, then it will be India 2 and SA 1 as you have prematurely indicated.
The Indian batsmen just went ultra-defensive, especially Dhoni and everyone who followed. I mean Dhoni had a strike rate of about 20? Saha had a 30 strike rate. Sheesh, I almost thought I was transported back into the Boycott’s era…
They just kept building pressure on themselves. Only Sehwag and Tendulkar played well in this match…
NO doubt Sachin is good player but he is not team player this is another example make hundrad and out. Several time he brought team near the victory very rear he finished with win.

as i said yesterday, india always loses 1st test when foreign teams visit us. not the first time it happened, and it wont be the last. India is still a one-man team. You know who that man is.

sachin is the only batsmen in the world who is so unlucky because of his team mates….he is not a magician to make the team win most of the time.. he have tried hard in this innings and i ll say that this was one of his best innings …coz d ball was swinging both d ways….and he was dismissed in an unlucky manner…he played superbly for his 175 vs australia and was dissmissed when the team required 17 runs from 18 balls with 4 wickets in hand and i am sure that any other team in the world would have won that match for sure…..if ponting was d part of an indian team, he would had a worst record than the master because if watch most of his innings which hw took the team to victory…there was a great support from his bowlers and batsmens….not like our indian players….so stop the critics agaist sachin because he is the best player in d world…

The more I follow the after mat of this match and its comments and what not, I realise that guys like Yuraj and Rohit saved their careers by not playing lol. Ind is not a 1 man team, They r a 4 man team #1 Sehwag (1 o the best MATCH WINNERS around), 2= Sachin, 2=Dravid (who did not play) and 4 Zak. Evry1 else hitches a ride and rely on the opposition to buckle under scoreboard press. SA have 2 passengers at the moment Prince (who should not open) and JP. If they get it right, Laxman returning will never save Ind.

Sports are the part of losing and winning. We can not underestimate a team from its one performance, whether it is India,Australia, or south Africa. Every cricket team loses match against any team. There are few exceptions when playing against teams like Zimbawawe, Bangladesh, Canada, ect. You know what I meant.
