Some gratifying returns to the Indian team in Ishanth, Rohit Sharma and Yusuf and an unexpected guest in Ashoke Dinda – the KKR guy with the crouching-tiger-hidden-dragon jump. Rohit didn’t have too much of a role in the game but considering he’s been recently having problems with his shoulder not sure how his runout might further jeopardize his hot-n-cold career.
Ishanth Sharma was fantastic – close to the 140s after a long time – and looked his former self until he came up against Sangakkara who from the moment he walked in appeared to be operating on a different plane today. Every 10 or so international matches you watch, you’ll see someone doing this – looking a cut above the rest. His dominance allowed the thrice-lucky Kapu to gorge on the bowling and eventually the target meant that when India came out to bat, you just sat back and tried to enjoy the Gambhir-Sehwag show while it lasted.
Not sure which was worse – Pakistan’s Day 4 vs NZ or this. I suppose this by India, because Pak at least went on to still win the test despite the fielding lapses.
Gambhir wasn’t too far behind Sanga with some hark backs to Ganguly splitting the offside but couldn’t find anyone to back him with Yusuf unable to repeat what he did in the T20 played in SL early this year.
Sanath has apparently been picked for this deadline-tour (for him) as an all rounder – the impotent selection committee decrees there is no reason why he can’t play longer in that role.

Srilanka only won becuse India didn’t have the top and experienced bowlers (Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan and Sreeshant) all these bowlers were looking very good and has the capabilty to get the Srilankan wicket.India used the less expericed bowlers against Srilanka’s expericed team. India didn’t really have a chance of winning if they used less expericed players
indian team should improve their crickting skills rather then their acting .specialy yuvraj harbhajan and raina
India can beat Srilanka. this is a fact. India was playing with 80 percent of the team inexpericed player, compared to the srilanka side, seriously some of the players are very new to international t20. i will be supprised if india won with this team, its not possibale against the expericed srilankas.
when i first saw Dinda he reminded me a bit of Richard Snell, he’s just a bit more whippy and explosive, Snell more ambled into that outrageous leap. But similarish..
thought Ishant Sharma bowled brilliantly considering how well sri lanka batted, he was just unlucky with the catches but still took a really good one off sanath.
i recall liking Snell’s hairstyle as a kid, don’t recall his bowling leap – Admin
I think that India seriously lacks good pace attack . Even New Zealand has a better pace attack than India . I don’t think we will be able to keep the # 1 rating . In a way we don’t deserve it . Look at the fielding ! absolutely third class . And what happened to the world class batsmen . They place one inning per year that it .

Good to see SL getting their own back on India. Sharma doing well on a pitch offering some bounce and movement (wow, didn’t he look ordinary in the ODI series against Australia) – however, Jayasuriya got better bowling figures than Sharma. And Sangakkara just doing a kick-ar*e job to headline a desperate and fighting SL team.
I’d like to see Indian supporters in the streets burning effigies (of Sharma, for dropping Sangakkara).
In a year when India finally achieved No. 1 status in tests but did so poorly in 20/20s and ODIs (losing the Champions Trophy, ICC T20, ODI series against Australia, 20/20 games against NZ, ICL etc.), it’s ironic that India is abandoning test matches at home in favour of the shorter games. It would be so sweet to see them thrashed by all and sundry at home in 2010 while continuing to succeed in tests away.

I hear the BCCI is going to have its own online channel soon. If those greedy bugg3rs stop me from watching matches not shown by Sky I’ll be very upset.
To those who complain about the length of the highlights please realise that the admin is constrained by fair use laws. I’m not sure what these are in India and SL but most countries allow for highlights as part of news reporting and there is a limit to what is allowed to be posted (hence the notice at the start, I’m assuming). The greedy BCCI is trying to have the length of highlights shown by news and other sites reduced to prevent us from viewing cricket highlights. Along with CA insisting on the removal of other highlights I think these guys are being bloody greedy – they have control over the full broadcasts and they have the sponsorship we all see on even the highlights. Neither the BCCI nor CA is exactly begging for cash and they are going to shut out those who can’t afford satellite subscription from watching cricket if they are not careful. Greed always comes home to roost, take the current financial cock up as exhibit 1!
As for those saying that India lost due to missing players, this is part of the game the team has to deal with. Oz won the CT with half of their players on the stretcher – if India is going to continue as the best team in the world they are going to need depth (as well as a better bowling attack of course). On the other hand, the fact that the BCCI hasn’t planned many tests in the next 6-8 months is not going to do the India team any favours in the rankings, either.

I really dislike watching India playing in India – the crowd are fanatical slu*s. They never respect the opposition or even applaud them. It’s like a wrestling audience, old people with nothing in their lives.
