Gambhir looked certain to repeat his Napier test knock vs NZ before he attempted to knock Herath out of a line and length that had been annoying him.
By the end of the day, the pitch had become the villain in the piece, which is odd because the same conditions could easily have won the game for SL against a different set of batsmen. It’s like – so often you’ll see a batsman struggle against a ball and commentators will start referring to it as unplayable. But a better batsman or even the same player in a different frame of mind will smack it and not much will be made of it unless the batsman is perhaps Sachin and the commentator Martin Crowe.
There was a sense of deja vu when Tendulkar and Laxman got together and I finally realized it was Day 5 of the 1st 2008 Test vs Australia. On that occasion however, Sachin had got ruffled by a will-we-won’t-we-go-off-for-the-light situation and gotten out.
One of the aspects of Tendulkar’s batting especially in test cricket over the last 4-5 years is a certain stillness that seems to often surround his every move. To call it artistic sounds light. It’s more like that fleeting feeling you sometimes get if you’re alone next to a lake or something and you just know you’re one with the lake despite the rational in you ridiculing the feeling. I am sick of major league a**holes coming here and complaining about, really, anything. I mean, its all for free and yet the highlights packages are much better than I would have seen on TV.
When I go back to India and I still miss a match for some reason, I will prefer to see the highlights on this site rather than on the cable…

No offense, but I’ve yet to hear a good Sri Lankan commentator. All of em either have bad accents or bad english or in Russell’s case both + a bad voice. They do seem knowledgeable tho.
Admin, did you always use to moderate comments or is that a recent development?

Sometimes (like in this test) your “jist” of the match is far more exciting than watching the match live. Keep up the great work.
