Watch cricket highlights: India vs Sri Lanka the 4th ODI played at Kolkata on December 24, 2009.

India win in the 49th over to take the series 3-1 with a game to go: Gautham Gambhir 150 no (137), Virat Kohli 107 (114)
SL understandably seem to have lost patience with Kapugedera – Kandamby doesn’t look far from the axe when Angelo Mathews returns, considering Mathews appears to have it in him to do a better job at being a finisher – the role Kandamby originally appeared to be saddled with. With Upul this series making the top his own, Perera pulling out stunning hits, Jayasuriya with his bowling abilities would be hard to keep out of that middle order even with his sporadic recent form.
When Virat Kohli first broke into the Indian team he appeared to be carrying some invisible baggage of being an U-19 World Cup winning captain. It took him a while to realize that few cared about this. Sporadic knocks internationally and in the IPL were followed by a semi-breakthrough in an inconsequential match vs West Indies. Despite his brilliant wrists, he looks destined to face LBW problems similar to that faced by Uthappa once international bowlers get used to his face being regular in the team. There’s something about him though, that make you think his fate will be different.
Gambhir has done enough over the last couple of years to ensure that even if he were to get single digit scores over the next 6 months, he’d still hold his place – however, something about this knock makes it seem like a signboard knock when his career is eventually looked at from an overall perspective. Maybe it was the responsibility of having a junior player alongside him to shepherd along – whatever it was, even with the limp SL tactics on the field, the efficiency of run-scoring took away any drama or twists that one would expect with a 300 run plus chase to the point that at one stage (horrible as it sounds) it almost became boring because it was so efficiently good.

I think this is one of the best play ever by India. With Sehwag and tendulakr back to the pavillion within 4 overs and with out Yuvraj and Dhoni in the team, chase down a target 316 it’s impressive.
