The post-tea session saw some pointless cricket helmed by Dhoni. But just when you were getting ready to yell, “Oh wait, how can it be pointless if it boosts the average,” the crowd chants of “Dhoni sucks” along with bored-looking teammates seemed to push him into pulling out some astounding hits that at least partially redeemed the situation from an entertainment point of view. From his point of view, however, he’d probably argue that he’d run out of decent batting partners and didn’t want to bat again in this test.

Is anyone else finding this series a little boring? I’m not Indian or Sri Lankan, so I don’t have that to interest me, I supppose. The cricket itself is what I’m talking about. I’m only a recent convert to the joys of watching cricket (and I’ve become a bit of an addict) so I was wondering if others consider this match a bit slow and non-eventful?

in response to TERUMO’s comments, I find TEST CRICKET boring (because it goes on and on for 5 days and sometimes ends in a “no decision (called a DRAW)). That is just plain STUPID). However, highlights of Test cricket may be fun because it compresses out all the slow and boring parts. In all fairness though, Test Cricket is better now as about 400 runs are scored each day vs. only about 200 to 250 used to be scored many many years ago. Watch ODs or T20s which are fast paced and end in a few hours.
TEST CRICKET matches should be banned in the modern era.

test cricket is a real cricket… i love watching each bit of it for 5 days… infact i find more intersting than t20… any fool can can play t20 but nt test cricket… it takes a man thing to watch and play test cricket… infact even to talk about test cricket..

I don’t know what was wrong with Dhoni today. I’m losing more and more confidence in his captaincy each day. WTF was he doing poking around when there’s a match to win? This isn’t what Sehwag scored 290+ runs for!

Excellent work with the highlights package man. Especially the dismissal of Dravid. Without watching the previous 5 away going deliveries you dont get any perspective on how he was setup.

cricinfo has put an article that India is not going to play home test until after 2011 world cup.
ICC needs to put a law that each country needs to play atleast dozen matches every year.
We don’t know if we are going to see Dravid, Laxman, Sachin or even Sehwag playing test cricket once again.
Better an ICL for test cricket will open the eyes of BCCI an ICC.

Poor Sehwag, really unlucky to get out so close to a new record. Somebody commented about Sehwag and Viv Richards. I suggest we sit back and enjoy the game rather that discuss who was a better batsman. The discussion will never come to an end and just create an argument! At the end of the day, the runs should do the talking!
Absolutely agree with comment by Kiran – the 5 deliveries preceding Dravid’s dismissal were critical to understand what led to his dismissal – this is what cricket education (setting up a batsman) is for the budding bowlers.
Overall approx 50 min of highlights for the entire day is perfect (it reminds me of the daily 1 hr highlights that Doordarshan used to out up every night at 11 pm in the 1980s).
