Watch cricket highlights – India vs West Indies from the 2009 T20 World Cup – the Super 8s game.
Scoreline: India 153/7 Yuvraj Singh 67 (43), Yusuf Pathan 31 (23) – Dwayne Bravo 4-38-4, Fidel Edwards 4-24-3
WI get there with more than an over to go: Dwayne Bravo 66 (36), Lendl Simmons 44 (37)
Whichever side you’re on, two super knocks worth a watch on either side. And for me personally, a third from Simmons who looks certain to ease the disappointment of Marlon Samuels fading away. Bravo and Simmons had threatened this in the game vs SL
It’s a good thing the highlights are restricted to 10 mins cos it means they omit the painful knock by Dhoni 11 (23). It’s easy but unfair to pick on him now, cos the truth was it was always coming. Just that many chose to gloss over it cos India was doing well. The problem Dhoni is facing is that for some time now, he’s been unable to really go bang and yet he continues to back himself to do it at any stage. So in the process he gets into this prod for a single mode and when the big shots don’t come off, all those prods and pushes look terrible in the final scorecard. A hitter at the start of his career, he should definitely be able to rediscover it, if he finds it within himself to be humble enough to silently retract statements like – “I tell the youngsters to play their natural game cos it’s not easy to go out there and change your game. Not everyone can do it. Maybe after 2 or 3 years they’ll learn how to do it.” (paraphrased).
Fidel Edwards looked the best he has this tournament and a fantastic win for WI who should now fancy taking down either England (more likely) or SA for the semi-spot. Provided they field like they did today.
Pregame: With Chris Gayle most certainly back, surely there must be a way to retain classy Simmons, though how much of the bowling he’ll face down the order if retained remains a question. For India, Dhoni’s position in the batting order will be one of the aspects – it’s about time Raina is given a game, considering he’s hardly got a hit this tournament.

instead of dhoni it is better to take dinesh karthik in the team.even if robin uthapa is taken to bat he will bat better than dhoni.atleast even if he is not taken take jadeja instead of dhoni

India lost because of Dhonu surely. He played 23 balls for 11, and this is not the first time he has done something like this.No team can expect to win after such a wasteful innings. I always knew his form as a batsman is short lived. Look at his batting style , its no better than harbhajan . Dinesh karthik is much better batsman than him. Selectors will soon realise that Dhoni is a passenger int the team . Mark my words his fate is going to be worse than any indian captain before him. Ganguly who he dispise was much much better . He was a match winning batsman. I am not his biggest fan but he was on the worlds best ODI bestmen in his time. We need to look beyond dhoni. both Parthiv Patel and Karthik are very good batsmen.. way better than Dhoni.
Shashank I completely agree with you. He is just a hyped player by the media. I still wonder why people call him great batsmen when there are really good players out there in the world. look at his (dhoni) averages in any form of the game or his strike rate…its pathetic. in the beginning he used to come in the end and smash couple of sixes and that made people to think he was a great batsmen that was becos of all the hard work put earlier in the innings by tendulkar, ganguly,dravid and others. How can he consider himself fit for T20 when he is playing this kind of innings..Dravid and Ganguly have better strike rate in T20 games than him…guys Take a break from dhoni..and start to appreciate people like yuvraj, bravo and other great players

@Shashank.Every good batsman goes thru bad patch….so is it with ..Dhoni..only thing is his bad patch has come now…and its affecting his captaincy too..remember if we lost this time becoz of him..we won last year also due to him…and u r talking abt batting style.if u see Dilshans shots then u will need shock treatment..get real my fren .there is definately a problem with Dhonis form.. but he has to find a solution..i don’t think there is anyone els who can be captain..at this moment u should give him confidence becoz he needs it…. u can’t ditch him..now…its too late..the wheels are coming off..Already the rest of the world seems to resent Indias success…so we don’t want our people going against…our team.. support them till the end and then see wat can be improved..

Being an Indian I am disgusted at this team. Dhoni whoever said he was a batsman..have u seen him play…and I feel the team isn’t working together. All player think they are big shots and have so much attitude somebody please show them a mirror!

Dang Admin, you got it right, some people lack patience and I really appreciate the fact that you wanna preserve the videos. Its very important for people to note that they should just let the video buffer rather than hastening and expecting too very much, if you wanna compromise on quality go to youtube and watch crapy highlights. Cricket-online team is doin agreat job. I would like to stck with Sapo for now, unless theres a new optionw hich is better in all those aspects. Thanks, Rafiq

I feel, we have to remove Ishanth Sharma and keep R.P.Singh who is the real match winner for the team, I wonder why he is given preference, even by considering his past records. On all grounds R.P. is a far better bowler..
Yeah. I agree with Ragh. Ishant Sharma is not bowling too good. Maybe RP Singh should be given a go. The lefties gave all batsmen trouble in the IPL. No reason not to test that again.
Maybe it’s about time India tries RP Singh. And alo someone should mention to Dhoni, that even if doesnt want to hit the ball, at least keep the runs coming. He’s India’s dot-ball hero of batting. He should get his game together.

Wow! I can’t believe that some of you guys are writing India down just because of one lost game. I understand your passion for the game, but come on, don’t let that overtake your patriotism and rationale. Indian team needs support and we should stand 1+ billion strong for the men in blue!

Well…India losing is not a good sign…. this defeat will probably put them out of the semis….they will probably beat eng (but u nvr know in t20 as WI proved), but i highly doubt they will win against SA. The best they can hope for is that they win by a big margin against Eng, and hav SA win all matches, with Eng defeating WI.
Then it will all depend on NRR.

watching dhoni bat of late reminds me of ravi shastri opening the innings back in the early nineties. only difference is that shastri had a better strike rate, and he could bowl.

i am not indian, but i like yuraj to bat, man he can time the ball very well for 6′s , just love his batting, not sure about dhoni , but he’s not that bad ..
The thing i like about these highlights is that you show even the good deliveries to the batsmen. Thank god for that, everyone else seems to think cricket is just about fours and sixes. This was some good bowling by the west indies.
