A cameo by Abhishek Nayar including 20 runs off a Flintoff over propelled Mumbai while Tendulkar batted through the innings. It will take time for many of the players to get used to SA pitches and it showed today – Sachin seemed to be predetermining too much today in his shot selection – this was one of those days and pitch when it didn’t have the effect it has often had.
Pregame: To see Sachin Tendulkar walk out with Sanath Jayasuriya is well worth the 1 year wait. Tendulkar didn’t really sparkle in IPL 2008 having come late into the tournament. This time could well be different. Only fear is – rather than a double-pronged attack from either end, Tendulkar as he often does while batting alongside Sehwag may opt to take the singles-turn-over-the-strike approach. The perfect kick off to the tournament with Andrew Flintoff making his debut appearance for Chennai.
