Watch highlights: New Zealand vs Pakistan – the 3rd ODI played at Abu Dhabi on November 9, 2009.
Scoreline: NZ 211 all out: McCullum 76 (78), Ross Taylor 44 (69) | Saeed Ajmal 10-33-4, Afridi 10-33-1, Aamer 2
Pakistan 204 all out: Mohammed Aamer 73 (81), Ajmal 33 (44) | Southee 10-26-2, Oram 9.1-2-20-3
Everything you love about watching the Pakistan team play cricket across a series or two rolled into one incredible game. NZ as a team has been a personal favourite for a while but if Aamer/Ajmal were able to get over the line, it would have been the perfect response to all the allegations in recent times about a team that’s the T20 World Cup champions and a Champions Trophy semifinalist (not sure if that counts, but anyhow). There have been teams that have been revered for far less.
Even with McCullum exorcising himself again, one of the reasons for the spin OD’ing was the early exit of Guptill who’d looked to attack in the last game quite successfully. Two super T20s now loom ahead with Taylor bound to get back to normal soon.
Also nice to see a young Pakistan cricketer not getting overawed by the suave Rameez Raja in a post-match presentation

I saw a couple of comments on this post and other posts as well about younis’ and a couple other players forms, First, i would just like to say that most of the people making these comments probably can’t play anywhere as good as the players they mention. Second, you cant expect every player to come out and score a decent amount its just not that simple. Great game regardless of the result, aamer just proved why hes on that team at the age of 17. Simply pathetic batting performance – yet again. I’ll blame mainly it on Younis, he first ran Salman out and than got out himself on the very next ball. A captain has to lead from the front – which apparently Younis Khan is not doing for at least last two series. Also, what was the rush? Why were the middle order batsmen throwing away their wickets? Target was only 211 not 311. Only staying at the crease would’ve won the match for Pakistan. Pakistan team will never be a leading team – reason is, they are mentally very weak. Talent don’t count if you don’t use your mind. Period!

Pakistan Sucks. I think there were a big political game running on. You can notice it if you see Afridi and MAlik’s batting. I mean the way of their playing sense something strange. Afridi is I think after the ODI captaincy. Where Younis is not helping himself. WHY DOESn’T he retire from the ODIs??? He is not suitable for this kind of modern strategy. Can you see any irresponsible one like him??? My goodness!!! he’s backed by millions of people. God, save Pakistan from Politics and Y O U N I S. Amen

Did you restart your browser after installing flash? If you’re using Firefox look under Tools>AddOns and make sure shockwave flash is enabled. White screens is usually a sign of the flash player not being installed. Don’t know about Internet Explorer, but it should probably have a similar option for Addons – Admin

I am a pakistani supporter but i witnessed taday was that pakistani players are the most unresponsible players ever by seeing how younis and gul made butt and razzaq get run out + the dismissel of younis afridi umar akmal kamran akmal shaoib malik and umar gul were on the easiest bowls ever they always get overconfident when they take a lead in a seires

Thanks man – it could also be that the page has not loaded – sometimes what happens is the ads take precedence over the page loading and so only the greenish background will appear for a while before the page loads. Not sure if that can be corrected but will look into it. – Admin
I think quite a bit of getting even for being laughed at when India lost to Aus has already been done here – at the risk of being an officious assh*le, I’m going to delete any more Pakistan sucks kind of comments that don’t have any relevance to the cricket that was played today. I restarted my machine after installing flash, and it still did not work in IE 8. But luckily, it is working great on Google Chrome

I think Pakistan played really good cricket especially aamar he played really played will. I think he should be moving up the oder because no one in our team played will as he did. he should bat where younis khan’s because younis khan is a stupid player. FU younis khan. We hate you.

This was a terrible game on Pakistan’s behalf. They are good and talented players but do not use their heads very often. Lets see if Afridi can make a differnc with his captaincy.

I’m sort of glad pakistan didn’t win by Aamer’s heroics. This underscores two things: 1) Miracles don’t happen 2) Winning meant all of pakistan’s blunders would have been covered up

Ammer and Saeed Ajmal played very well.the turning point of the match was when Younis khan say to Salman but for a run it was no need that was a stupid thing.Younis khan batting has been flop now he cannot come in the form my opinion is that just lave the captency.It was all his fault that calling Salman Butt to run and after another delivery he also got out it was stupid thing.Pakistan Zindabad

YK does not have his priorities straight. He is more worried about his captaincy than performing. Every time we lose a game the Moran say we didn’t have partnerships. Well! why the hell you don’t stay on the wicket then? Why don’t you build a partnership with other players… honestly why do we need a captain? Just get rid of this position all together and name everyone captain on rotation basis i.e. one per game… Giving any single individual power will cause the same result.
YK – for heaven’s sake resign and leave Pakistan cricket – we can live with a young player contributing 25-30 runs on every game then watching your shuffles all over the wicket for 3 runs!
On the other note, Aamer put up a great fight and unfortunately didn’t get the results but at least he showed fighting spirit…keep doing these things Aamer .

admin keep up the good work.. well pakistan played predictably, going smooth initially n then squandering everything..n aamer had already shown promising signs of an allrounder so today was no surprise n i hope he doesnt fall prey to rubbish politics..lets see what pak will fish out in the t20..till then have a great time.
Seniors players played very irresponsibley but Amir plyed a good innings, and I don’t know why Indians are commenting on Pakistan when they suck big time on their home soil, got out on 173 in the last match and also lost the series. These Indians are just good at pointing finger at others specially Pakistan they don’t look through their own colar. Anyways good luck Pakistan team for T20.

the difference between NZ and PAk is the fielding and the tactics.. if pak wasnt so lazy in the field and gave away 10 extra runs that could have won it for them…

Interesting match, although I saw no one mentioned the heroics of the last two batsmen for Pakistan, they’ve been taking pages out of New Zealands lower order batting book
