Scoreline: NZ 153 all out (2nd Inn). Pakistan in pursuit of 251 fall short at 218 all out. Umar Akmal 75, Yousuf 41, Kamran 27, Malik 32 | Shane Bond tries to complete his return to test cricket with 3 more only to realize he’d already completed his return in the 1st Inn, but completes it anyhow a second time around for good measure. O’Brien 3, Vettori/Martin 2 each.
The kind of gripping day of test cricket that makes you pine for more of them tests. Umar Akmal during his short ODI career had already earmarked himself as a test player in the way he just seemed to know how to construct an innings irrespective of whether it was an innings of patience or an attacking one. Today too, he saw out the morning session with a confident eye on playing out two more sessions. The cold facts are that a 251 chase on Day 5 is never a cakewalk. When you add a headless batting line-up to this, the fact that Pakistan even got close against a brilliant NZ bowling/fielding performance lends further weight to the emergence of Umar Akmal as one of the finds of the year in world cricket
A bearded Ian O’Brien apart from looking like St Peter in a made-for-television Christmas series put on his best bowling performance all year and Vettori and team despite all the injuries they’ve had this year continue to surge ahead against the cynics.
Umar Akmal Viewing pleasure: It all started in the 3rd ODI vs SL, followed by a hundred in the 4th ODI. The innings however that had in a way marked him out for this test came in the Champions Trophy game vs WI.

pakistan top order is in avery bad position what think that in pakistan team all should be bowlers exept shahid afridi.imran nazir,kamran akmal.umar akmal other bowlers score more than batsmen .

Why PCB droped Salman Butt and brought Imran Farhat? We have Yasir Hameed an excellent opener for test matches why he is out? Why Misbah-ul-Haq is not playing 1st match although he had selected on for younis khan? What did they see in Khurram Manzoor? somebody plz tell me what’s going on with them??

Well i am very much disappointed to see Pakistan lose from a situation they could have easily won. But I have great admiration for Umar Akmal. The sort of character he showed for some playing in his debut test match was really fascinating and I really hope that he do wonders for Pakistan in the future in sha Allah as well. As for the website, I think this is by far the best website for cricket enthusiasts like me. Keep it up bro!!.

Interesting match, but the result was quite disappointing. I think the top 3 batsmen should be blamed for the lost. They not only didn’t do well in batting but also dropped few important catches.
Omar Akmal and Mohammad Amir were the stars of both innings and bowling.

I can’t remember seeing such a great test match (Despite Ashes of course) played for a long time. I just couldn’t get off my computer from watching day 4 and 5
At the end of the day even though it is sad I’ll have to admit that New Zealand deserved to win. Pakistan fielded poorly, batted poorly, and bowling in the first innings was mediocre. Younis Khan may not be a great ODI player as of late but his presence in the test side used to make a massive difference whether he performed or not

Great game! Some good bowling from both teams. Taylor’s 90-odd, Vettori and McCullum’s partnership and Bond’s 5-for set it up for the Kiwis. Pakistan have some good players, but NZ will take the series, inshallah.
there are sme similer co-incidence around the word in test matches . in india sreesanth came back took 5 bond cme bck took 5 fer . on debut umar scored a centurey so has barath they r both 19 yers old .

Great job Admin for posting professionally edited highlights. We know that compressing a 5 day match into 4 hrs is not easy…..And guys get used to disappointing test and ODI performances from Pak. Pak only has a pulse remaining in T20.

I think that some Paki players are not serious in playing cricket. Salman should come back as well as Misbah bcause we need some special fielder in slip and that is Misbah.. Yousuf is gud in captaincy than Younus. I Like the way he talk in urdu.. God bless Pak team… Bond deserve man of the match bt there must be some prize for Umar AKmal as he deserve….Fawad should remain in team and must open the inning with salman butt. There is no place for Khurram and Farhat… Also, Gul need rest and Raof should play in 2nd match…and i think kaneria is better option than ajmal as he is best test spinner in Pak team… God bless the team who deserve.

really sad with the result. Well we Pakistanis are used to this now because it has happened so many times to PAK team. I think Salman Butt and Yasir hameed will make a good opening payer. And i want Younis and misbah back , Malik and farhat should be sacked…..

It was a very good game but Pakistan should change the first 3 players. Both Akmals mad a fake nose for Pakistani Crickers, otherwise Pakistani team would have not been able to hit 100. Any ways good luck in the future.
