New Zealand vs South Africa Champions Trophy Highlights

Links Removed – Apologies for the inconvenience

Watch cricket highlights: New Zealand vs South Africa – 2009 Champions Trophy played on September 24 2009.

Scoreline: NZ 214 all out – Ross Taylor 72 | Wayne Parnell 5 wickets
SA get there easy (41.1) AB de Villiers 70 no

I’d thought that SA’s chances in this tournament might have actually improved after the pasting from SL. Today’s performance was more like the one SA pull out in the opening game of a major tournament before messing up at a crucial later stage. So, if Gibbs were to return sometime soon, SA actually now look like serious contenders here. They might have lost 5 wickets in their chase, but it looked even easier than that with AB back to what he’s been over the last year or so, and earlier, normalcy returning to Parnell’s game despite the eventual runs conceded.

It’s a lucky thing that most self-respecting organizations have rejected my credit card or I’d have wasted yet another punt on Guptill being of some use to Taylor. The guy’s oozing talent and yet, the one line that appears on this site most is – “Guptill continues to frustrate”. And with scores on a par with his age.

New Zealand didn’t even get their selections right – with the available slots, you’d think Nathan McCullum (who’s a shrewder limited overs bowler than Jeetan) would be in. As it turns out, Nathan isn’t even in the squad.

Preplay Time Killer: SA usually steamroll teams in the early rounds of tournaments like this. However there might be SA supporters who are actually happy their team messed up cos it could mean a rising peak rather than a spiraling-downwards peak. Gibbs unfortunately continues to be out injured – can Smith-AB put on a show today. NZ on the other hand, despite their recent misery in SL are one of my personal favourites to make it out of this group. But what’s with their players catching all kinds of stomach flus when a major tournament is underway. It happened in the T20 World Cup and Butler is out today (besides Oram with some other injury). Nathan McCullum (who surprisingly doesn’t get enough games) might get one today as a result.

hey admin, curious to know – who do you think will win this match?

Seeing this pretty late with Taylor battling it out alone – have had enough of taking punts – lost everything other than my soiled underwear during the T20 World Cup (mostly on NZ – what a frustrating team) – Admin

@ KHALID SWEDEN: New Zealand are favorites? Are you high?

    1. South Africa are ranked number one in ODIs. New Zealand are ranked number seven.
    2. New Zealand are in poor form.
    3. None of the top order (bar Taylor) have made a half century of late

HEY ADMIN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GREAT GAME .. WELL I ACTUALLY KNEW THE OUT COME KIWIS AINT SHI*. LOOK AT DANIAL VITTORI HE LOOKS LIKE A HOMELESS GUY WHO LIVE UNDER A BRIDGE.

  14. freebie says:

I like the new idea about posting the anthems…i wonder how the ind-pak players will be during the anthem!

Ravi Shastri needs a lesson on players and their last names. Du-miny became Da-miny…Gaptill became Guptill

    NOTE: the spellings were phonetic!

  15. blackcapsfan says:

lom pol did you just call Daniel Vettori a homeless chap. hes carried himself with far more dignity through the years than a blithering fu*kface who cant even get his name right. Its Daniel not Danial and Vettori not Vittori.

Sorry HPatel, but have to delete your comment as it contains references to live links – it’s a policy here to not provide live streaming or links, even in the comments section

  20. sam says:

now… all we need is to extract some of van der merwe’s energy and stick it in dravid… he could be the desi hulk. everytime a bowler sledges him he just goes wild… and tries to hit a six.. and fails..

on a more important note: NZ really need to step it up. individually they are pretty good…as a team I dont get how they arent more consistent.

  30. sumesh says:

    hi………
you doing very good job to us ……we don’t have time to see live matches…pls include spanish football leauge

  31. shovan says:

Chokers!!!!! or maybe unlucky in big tournaments…..
Maybe they are just unlucky that Steve Waugh decided to name them “chokers” n the rest of the world just followed…..
If other teams lose then its just a bad day…..but when SA lose…..(Just follow Steve Waugh)….
I m not gonna repeat after steve waugh cos i have my own mind….n i can see that this SA team are the BEST EQUIPPED team….their bad game in da tournament is just a past now…..n the team they lost to (Sri Lanka) is in Danger itself….Its all cricket…..
I m not saying SA would win this tournament….But some fools may think they wouldnt win just bcos Wut Steve Waugh thought….gta remind them that SA actually won the first event of this tournament in Dhaka in 1998…with a weaker team……And now they are the Best team in the world……
