Finally, New Zealand stop frustrating their fans. Oh wait. Ryder’s now out. It happened in the T20 World Cup – just when they were looking good half the team fell out injured or sick. But I suppose, no one could be as frustrated as Ryder himself, evident from his expletive-ridden rejection of the pretty physios endearments. Guptill looked like he wanted to stick around for a change before putting on a show of his phenomenal clean-striking abilities.
Mahela looked set to repeat his 2007 World Cup Semis knock vs NZ where he’d bent them over in the closing overs – unfortunately for Lanka, wasn’t to be. Brilliant knock however from a modern great.

What’s wrong with our cricket team?.On paper & as for the views of the experts Sri lanka is the most talented,well balanced team in the world.But this inconsistence in performing is really irritating.Winning against the No.1 team in the worl…d & loosing to 2 pretty ordinary if not the worst teams in ODI’s in the world gives you a pretty good idea of how much their underperforming & is simply unacceptable.I really cannot come in to terms why their underperforming this much.Heartbreaking.We wont get this kind of a team forever & we got to take the maximum use while were having it.And with the world cup looming little more than a year it’s high time that we take proper measurements to correct these errors.Really heartbreaking.
Times of London cricket correspondent described Sri Lanka cricket team as “Formidable exciting, outfit!” I agree Sri Lanka has one of the best teams, by far most exciting and entertaining. In many respects Sri Lanka team is the best. But cricket is a complex and fascinating sport. Upsets and surprises are all part of the beauty of the game. I think cricket is the best game of all!
there is only one problem with sri lanka, as with other sub continent teams; negotiating bounce from balls hitting the deck. Another trouble with them is that their seamers are yet to impress in favourable conditions. Pakistan does well inspite of this handicap as they possess excellent pace bowlers, especially tall ones like Gul and Asif.

What most people do not understand is that the Sri Lankan team do not have the ability to adjust to the conditions. The Super sport park pitch is a bouncier pitch and that suited both England and New Zealanders because they have these kind of wickets back home whereas ours is a team who perform well in slower tracks that helps spinners more. Fast bowling is an art that they need to have special skills to ball in these conditions. Our bowlers got carried away by the bounce of the wicket and sprayed the balls all over and that allowed NZ to score a formidable score beyond our reach. As for batters, they need to realise that batting on these conditions is not about hitting fours and sixes right from the word go. When the ball is new and hard, it seams around a lot and you need to respect the bowling when due. If you keep the wickets in hand, you can charge at the latter stage. The Centurion wicket suited us very well and we out played the #1 side in the world under the conditions familiar to us. The inconsistent performance is largely due to our inability to adopt; but I guess with a little tweak to the conditions would make our team a world beaters with the talents we have. Added to this, we made two big mistakes; none inclusion of Thilina Thushara for England match and dropping Murali for Thushara in the match against NZ. We actually could have done quite the opposite.
at last sri lankan was bating very well from starting there innings they was blasting the new zeland team like a rocket because of that sri lankan was winning the 2nd match with new zeland. they proof sri lankans are lions always never loose this kind of match never give up the match
Thanks To England, Sri Lanka Still Have A Chance To Reach Semis. As South Africa is already knocked out and NZ has less net run rate than Sri Lanka, If England manage to beat NZ on tuesday, Sri Lanka and England will reach semi finals.

Hey Ravi, I don’t think NZ are one of the worst teams in the world mate, I don’t know where you get your facts from. Yes we are one of the worst when it comes to tests but in ODI’s we actually aren’t that bad. We past the group stages in most if not all of the major tournaments. Looks like your pathetic team will be knocked out in the group stage. How lame is your team having to rely on other teams results to make the semis. Even if your team make the semis thats how far you’ll get. And whats even more pathetic is that you have a 40yr old in your team, talk about a has been.
ya its a pity that sri lankans lost this game.(most probably from the tournament as well) but i think captain him self is responsible for these kind of performance.. in my personal opinion he(sanga) is the WORST captain(even though he is a great player) in the history of sri lankan cricket…becouz he is a kind of a player who letting his emotions take over his actions…
We would have easily won Pakistani and Compaq cup tournaments bt its very disappointing when they are not playing up to their maximum, other wise we would have easily won these two games with such a weaker oppositions.

A spirited performance from New Zealand to defeat a team that was considered a favorite.Sri lanka as usual lost the plot with its reckless and tactless bowling.Sangakkara obviously got it wrong by dropping murali who we never no can take wickets.All said and don SRI LANKA still have a mild chance to make it to the semi finals.CONGRATULATIONS NZ

Its exciting that we have two attacking openers with a licence to go outthere and smash it. but then the middle order has to be really strong to cope if they get out. which is not the case with sri lanka. we have good batsmen but they just dont seem to be in form. the only reason we won the match against SA was because of Dilshan and Mendis performed. Fingers crossed for making it to the semis, even tho personally i dont think we deserve it.
