Punjab Kings XI vs Deccan Chargers Highlights – 1st Leg

Watch cricket highlights – Punjab Kings XI vs Deccan Chargers from IPL 2009

Scoreline: Deccan Chargers 168/5: Andrew Symonds 60 (36), Venugopal Rao 32 (25)
Mohali make it with a ball to go – Mahela Jaywardene 43 (28)

The two returning Aussies in action today – Symonds and Lee. Both were super for their teams, but the Mahela factor tilted the game the Mohali way. Sreesanth got his second pasting from old adversaries today (Hayden had eaten into him during Mohali vs Chennai). The problem with Sreesanth is he’s letting ego get in the way of common sense. Seeing Symonds clout him, it was obvious that rather than trying to produce run-curtailing deliveries he was going after Symonds’ wicket – almost could imagine him rehearsing his aggressive exultation as Symonds walked back, head down. A 20 run over is all that resulted. Lee and Pathan bowled two good final overs and kept the total sane.

DC appeared to have seized the game midway through, but for a fantastically timed knock by Jayawardene in which he once again showed his ability to hit boundaries at will once he’s settled in. Smart running by Chawla and Lee in the final over and grumpy Yuvraj had a laugh eventually.

Pregame: Brett Lee’s back for the Kings XI. He looked good in the T20 vs Pakistan.

Thanks a lot for the highlights. Even though this IPL has lacked the atmosphere of the first it has produced a lot of close and riveting cricket. It looks like a CSK/DD final at this stage.
