Scoreline: 175 (141) in a total of 347. 19×4, 4×6
Most Sachin fans would probably regard his 143 at Sharjah vs Australia – the sandstorm match – as his best in ODI cricket. India lost that game too but his knock ensured a place in the Final on that occasion. So no one really cared about the result.
Tendulkar fans on their own rarely give a damn about whether India wins or not, but it’s the cynical oh-he-can’t-finish-a-game barbs from the fringe wankers that makes one desperately crave for a result/purpose to be attached to any Tendulkar innings. Personally, through most of the ’90s, I rarely watched India bat once Tendulkar got out. And then I grew older and among other garbs, donned the enjoy-the-game one that acquired pretentious proportions whenever Tendulkar had had a bad day.
So how good was this knock. Memory can be unreliable and so comparing your excitement levels in two games on either end of a decade can be fuzzy. Especially when hormones existed in your body only during one of those games. The Australian bowling attack in the 1998 game had relatively better names – Warne in particular bowled super despite going wicketless. But I doubt they bowled any better than McKay, Watson, Bollinger, Hilfenhaus and Hauritz did in this particular game. In fact, Watson handled Tendulkar’s stepping-out attempts to Kasprowicz him, much better. You add a higher total to the chase and I’d think this is his best ever in ODIs (thus far).
It’s been 24 hours since the Tendulkar knock happened. With clarity slowly returning – who cares about the result. We never really did.
People seem to have forgotten that he did this against an Australia third string bowling attack. They were missing Bracken, Lee, Hopes, Siddle, Johnson, and Henriques.
Australia’s three strike bowlers had 19 ODI’s total between them. And the one that got Sachin out only just got off a plane hours before the match.
Sachin only looked good because most of the other Indian batsmen played so bad.
A vastly overrated performance.
It is tough to compare this innings with the one in 98. The bowlers, the pitch, and most definitely the players playing alongside Sachin were vastly different then. His attitude to both innings was probably the same though – which is what is remarkable given that he is definitely past his physical prime (I am probably going to be roasted alive for that comment though
Great, great player. I am fortunate to be from the same country as him.
Dear Mr.Jethro…
Quit being an as*hole…
even if siddle ,jonson henriques were there u piece of shit wud say the samethings…they have few experience…Mind u the pacers are selected for playing australia…they have calibre….chasing 351 with whatever strenght of opposition on whichever track it is without help from your team is huge ask…After 20 years of playing…you can’t appreciate when he is so fluent…stop watching cricket for god’ sake
Jethro – you are a loser!!!
Guys this is not fair, don’t say that bowling so sub par or whatever it was very good innings under lot of pressure that should be taken in consideration thats what i belive,he kept dignity of indian cricket thats whats important,if he falter then we would not have score 200,once again very good knock.
Jethro, Ure an as*hole. Have you ever come even remotely close to doing something like this in your lifetime, ure a loser for not being able to appreciate a mans genius.
You all end to rant so damn much shit. Try to think positiv and you must appreciate Sachin’s innings. I myself am a Pakistani, but the little master has always been my favorit player. He did a great job, took responsibility and deserves all respect. To say that you lacked Bracken, Lee, Hopes, Siddle, Johnson and other were missing, are the bad excuses. He has talent and knows how to ball hot the ball.
THANKS AGAIN
can’t we all appreciate Tendulkar’s milestone and innings as it is? we can complain about his innings if it was a matchwinning one…
well said sravan. i just cant tolerate people who cant appreciate such a good innings still watch cricket.
yeah i agree wth jethro yes aussies missed lee and siddle and mc grath and warne and gillespie and lille and thomson . a hole jethro there is no if and buts on the ground u got to play what ever playere r on the field . and they miss boony too .
Jethro(read as*hole/douchebag or Fu*kshit) whatever u like….. I really dont abuse on these kinda forums neither personally i do so in my real life… but seriously.. as*holes like u really piss me off… about the innings: is it Sachin’s fault that lee was not bowling?? and mind u..if Sachin was in the form that he was y’day… it really dint had mattered.. if lee, shoaib or bond were in the same team… and ur comment for that matter is self contradictory as.. if the bowlers were not that gr8 and the attack was below par.. how the hell nobody cud bat along with him?? so called strongest top order/middle order… I hope u saw the match with open eyes.. theres no term as ” played bad ” in cricket for a batsman… u play with what all u have…
I wish u had a bit of sense…and if u had a chance of watching the after match presentation ceremony ( i hope u dint..as u were so busy talkin BS like this..) u wud understand that MOM dint mean anything to that guy… and he was so hurt that he cud hardly speak that time… ( 19 runs of 17 balls were reqd.. after he got out.. 3 guys cudnt do it)..
I’m sure.. this is just a performance for you.. and I’m really amaze how ppl dont appreciate.. u know wot go fu*k urself.. and get some fu*king Life for godsake.. and keep those views to urself….. neways…
I wish you.. to only understand…that..Cricket is not just a game.. its something that you feel while you watch.. its about spending hrs n hrs to watch all that u had seen before a million times and still find something exciting abt it.. its mesmerizing to know how it energizes and unites u.. every thing abt this game so breathless.. its about lara and warne and walsh and donald and ponting and gibbs and murli and most of all its about SACHIN….
srry 4 my harsh words admin u can remove my comments but tendulkar issue is too sensetive 4 me .

wow jethro i cant believe u would even say something like that i mean WTF!!! u were lucky henriques was not there and hopes isn’t even a recognized bowler and i dont wanna go on cuz u just pissed me off
WHAT AN INNINGS FROM THE LITTLE MASTER.JUST ,SUCH AN HONOUR TO BE ALIVE TO WATCH IT.
LIKE SACHIN U TOO KEEP UP WITH POSTING THESE HIGHLIGHTS, U R DOING EXACTLY LIKE SACHIN AND THAT IS A GREAT JOB.
SPECIAL THANKS TO SRAVAN U R SO RIGHT.
ppl who are talking shit about sachin and how aus didn’t had there full attack. let me tell you all one thing, even if you play in your backyard with your own mother you won’t be able to make 31000 runs!! so stop talking shit, sachin is the best!and he will remain the best ever! if you don’t like him or have to talk shit about him then don’t watch him playing and shut the fu*k up!
Hey Jethro.
Its all about talent that sachin has.He can go over any bowler (Remember Shane Warne). When Bracken, Lee, Hopes, Siddle, Johnson, and Henriques played their debut its their first match. So its not who the name of bowler is. It that sachin can give his best all times.
Appreciate the talent one has.And groom yourself on whatever u are upto looking at great people like sachin.
Its not overrated performance. When you do great things you will be rated the best.Do well good luck.
I think we are all privileged to have been around and to have had the opportunity of seeing so many superb innings from one of the game’s truly great players. But above everything else that is “cricket-related” I truly admire Sachin for staying so simple, family-oriented, controversy free to a large extent & with his feet frimly on the ground. It is not easy to handle the mind-boggling fame nor the equally mind-boggling pressure for over 20 years. All the “couch-cricketers” from around the world have only to look back at their own lives and whatever professional careers they are in and answer honestly how they would have reacted if they faced such expectations and pressures day in and day out. Anyway, whichever way you slice and dice it, we would still come back to the same thing – WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE SEEN SOMEONE LIKE SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR IN OUR LIFETIME and THANK GOD HE WAS BORN IN INDIA !!!!
A BIG THANK YOU ALSO to whoever puts up all these highlights – you are doing a BIG SERVICE to those who miss these matches or those who would like to relive some of them in quick time….MORE POWER TO YOU……
No matter what people feel or say… Sachin is a born genius and will always be.
He is the greatest ever Batsman to play ODI Cricket.. The argument ends here.
Not sure why you all are wasting time giving feedback to Jethro … people like him will always look for something like that … you should spend time giving the credit to Tendulkar …
Like someone made the point, Lee not being there isn’t Tendulkar’s fault …. and guess what … Lee hasn’t been playing for 20 years like Tendulkar .. and still has missed so many matches due to injuries .. . The fact that Tendular is playing for 20 years at the same level speaks for itself .. and you can look at the stats …

just what i was searching for,Thank u Admin..
Such a great cricketer , when he was out the team was needed only 19 runs from 17 balls and 3 wk in hand , what can he more ? should he got all 350 runs alone ? lol…
The last 3 batsman proved themselves as inexperience ..Aus holds their nerve and they won..
Yo beauty Sachin.
Jethro, who cares who is bowling ? He was a great player all time and will be in the future too ,
Aus bowlers were injured , so what can do sachin ? it was his day and i am damn sure those lee, hopes, siddle or watever were beaten same as those new comers were in that particular day . . .
When he started his carrer aus were the best , so he always had to face the best bowlers , still he managed 9 odi century against them and 10 test century as well, what to say about that ? just sealed ur bloody mouth and keep watching how he destroy Aus the next two games.
1.Ponting : “This was his one of the greatest innings”. > > after match.
2.Hayden : “Sachin is a miracle worker” >> in the eve of ipl 2.
3.Bradman : “The boy ( sachin) plays like me” >> in his birthday
4.Warne : “Sachin is Better than Lara” > > in his all interview
Yo need more compliment about Sachin? mr Jethro
great reply…
thanks mr.ahmed.
Jethro
hey mate! Sachin scored 9 centuries against Aussies, most by any batsman. So do you still think Sachin was fluke? This guy scored 17000 runs mate, come on, he’s just unstoppable when he get’s going.
To all who are criticizing the little master, I advice you to know the game. You people don’t have a clue of what he did for India in past 20 years and still is doing. If you can’t appreciate such a masterpiece innings, don’t. But don’t be such a disgraces to India ranting about such a great man.
critics can be done as neutral basis regardless of result. it was just one man show though india were on loosing side. but to win a game like this u need atleast some support from team mate.
in my view this was sachin’s best inning in his carrer so far as u look at way he carved this run chase bringing an inch close to victory. india lost this game b’coz of 1o men playing alongside of master sachin. no real support whatsoever from any one. in match it is just not one man playing its 11 men.
i m agree with ahmed in those comment. shud he be doing all 350 run!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a master piece
congrates tendular bhai……..well done
keep it up
simply the best
no words can describe him,
he is the best
@===>> “MAYUR”
You made day mayur, that is a fitting reply to jethro…..LoL!!!
Don’t know bout people who says its an overrated performance or blah blah blah!
and who cares ?
For me , it was certainly a magical innings considering the situation. The little master single handedly set up the game and put up the unforgettable heroic effort.
whats wrong with me? im australian yet i cant stop watching this…
@Mayur…. hahaha awesome…
thanks to admin for letting this link slip through…
Where’s the Aussie innings?
This is just an individual knock. Highlights of the full game are here – Admin
this is sachin’s highlight inning…. this is not yet finished…
I have seen the match completely…Thank god for giving the chance to see such an terrific innings from the littile master..he is The Living Legend…he left the game at just 10 runs…so rest of the people cound able to manage….then what was the sachin fault…Sachin case is so sensitive…So please stop non-sence of blaming the Cricket Master
Yo Jethro dude, you are saying it was overrated? you must be a paki from pakistan who doesn’t like India. U need to stop watching cricket and find something else in your lonely life to do. Tedulkar was the best there ever was and best there is and ever will be. Its been playing pro cricket for past 20 years, he played for India with Kapil dev when he was only 16years old, and you are saying his performance is overrated? U need to go and get ur head inspected by veterian doctor.
Hey guys, I just realized that almost everyone bashed up Jethro dude, I think he has crawled back in his little lonely hole he came out from. What a loser, lets not waist anymore time on him, hes not worth it, thats why he didn’t have guts to blog again. Lets all thank Sachin to let us watch him play these amazing innings, just unbelieable….
no words for him..
he is a gr8 player indeed.. & hav the caliber 2 play well even after 20 yrs..
but he must hav 2 stay till the end..
but amazing man..,amazing knock..,
gosh…i used to be a hardcore fan of cricket, now time does not permit me to dedicate myself to cricket. But I do appreciate the sport and sportsmanship when I do see a good match. I hear lot of negatives about Sachin’s 175. To me it doesn’t matter whether Sachin did it because of third class blowers or whether some football player blowed, the bottom line for me is , he did his job and showed his skill. He played his heart out and entertained the audience and made us enjoy the innings. Kudos to Sachin ! Its unfortunate that the others cud not play it safe and lead India to win
Hurrah I missed the innings and saw it today.. that was awesome…SACHIN’S THE MASTER..
I strongly believe that God exists on the Earth itself. Well! When He can convert a cricket ground into heaven, who can deny my belief???
We are privileged to take birth in nation, which He represents and we are fortunate enough to witness His miracles live.
Keep going Mastero… We can’t find a term over ‘admire’ in any linguistics. So, we do admire you.
really great inning. i would not care to or dare to rate it. although, personally, i feel relieved that Sachin is still firing all cylinders. needless to say that it is only mortals like us that need affirmations like these to remind us of his genius. may the doubting thomases of the world rest in peace.
Worship the God for what he brings to millions of devotees!! Take a bow ….Sachin Sachin…Sachin Sachin!!
oh Jethro..take this _|__
guys, guys li jethro suc- . we don need any adjective for sachin. hes above everything. hes to be loved more and more.
if there is a god in real it would be like him for sure
jeete raho, abhi to sirf 20 saal huwe hain abhi to 40 saal pura karna hai, mai to kehta hu ki sachin ko aajivan cricket khelne ke liye special permission milni chahiye
