The Dale Steyn morning burst being the pinnacle of SA in the field today, Amit Mishra as the annoying nightwatchman soaking up a fair bit of it appeared to take the sting out of any gung-ho mood the South Africans may have walked out with today.
If the Steyn spell was Kevin Spacey in the shower in American Beauty, the rest of the day was Spacey’s rest of the day – downhill – VVS’ artistry and Dhoni who as a test batsman has stats and an average that better represent his significance in the team (as compared to in ODI cricket).
But SA are not buried yet – as forewarned on air in the one over that was bowled today, Smith is no pushover and neither is AB. With Petersen keen to impress, Amla however could pay obeisance to the law of averages. But you’ve got to believe that someone with the abilities of JP Duminy has nowhere else to go but up. This is turning out to be one heck of a test match

Why is Dravid not chosen for the ODI team. We need a solid one down in that format.It is a disgrace that he is kept out.The Calcutta test is shaping beautifully for India. but it is too early to celebrate. The South Africnas have great depth in batting.Kudos for these highlights.

Really excellent batting display by India, but seems like the pitch has turned into a good batting one…. If India can pull a win here, undisputedly they are the No.1 Test team in the world presently but if SA can pull a draw here, undisputedly they should be crowned the world champions in test cricket for present. A lot depends on the Indian bowlers as the SA batsmen are very much capable of batting the 140 odd overs for the next two days…. Day-4 should be really interesting…Can Zak, Bhajji & co come to the party…lets see….(fingers crossed)…….

You’ve done a fantastic job editing them together, even including the facial expressions of Steyn, the umpires, and catching the human drama. Are you editing directly from recordings of the match? That must take a lot of time and effort on your part. Thanks again!

For some1 who supports neither SA nor Ind and just likes to watch good cricket, I now think that the match has actually become too 1-sided (and this time not becuase of RARE exceptional bowling) I was quite disappointed with SA’s standard of fielding in this match, really poor. Being a good fielder myself, I always enjoyed watching SA, NZ and Aus field. Excellent inning by Laxman (I still think Dhoni is a flat track bully). Laxman took advantage of his chance and battled through a tough period and then flowed, he showed the calm presence of mind to avoid the collapse that hit the Saffers on day 1. To me that highlights just why SA are not ahead of Ind in the rankings. By my observation SA are better balanced, more adaptable and more athletic than the Indian side but the Indians prove yet again that they have the ability to PUT THE OPPOSITION AWAY when they get even a sniff! Most teams would have given up when SA were 218/1 especially after the trashing they received in the previous test but Ind are incredible at using their resources well. For a team which relies so heavily on batting, they have showed why they have an excellent test record.

South african fielding has become soo sloppy. They are looking at indian team in the same scoop as india look at Bangladeshi team. They are wrong. When south africa does not perform beyond their capabilities they deserve to loose. Serously, india by all means deserve the trophy of this match and I really hope south africa looses. So that they can look back and get their shit together. Bravo India! You deserve it!!!
