England get there fairly calm (45 overs) Paul Collingwood 46 (51), Eoin Morgan 62 no (83), Owais Shah 44 (74)
James Anderson in conditions that suit him harks back all the excitement he generated as young bowler years back – but that’s being a bit patronizing – so I suppose, it’s better to watch and enjoy when he’s doing his thing. Angelo Mathews made a surprise entry during the IPL for Kolkata and many like myself wondered – who the hell is this guy now – considering Buchanan was around. But every time he’s been on for SL, he does something that makes viewers notice him, which has to be the biggest triumph for anyone in the public eye. England after their initial brilliance with the ball petered out for a while, almost like they felt guilty to disappoint the sneers that accompanied their presence in this tournament.
And then they went and lost Strauss early, with Murali-Mendis still looming. It’s easy to say the pitch didn’t help the spinners because that detracts from how well England played them. Just the thought of playing Murali-Mendis has made some teams fidgety, so it IS a big deal.
Brilliant isn’t a word you’d often associate with Collingwood in ODI cricket but that’s what he was in this game. The kind of brilliant that makes you suddenly get concerned about others pipping him to post-match awards you normally wouldn’t bother about. Shah apart from keeping things normal and calm with fidgety runs also did the same in his partnership with (a personal favourite) Morgan, whose knock ensured Collingwood wasn’t wasted – hiding away his natural attacking strokes and playing sedately in tune with the situation. Just hope, he doesn’t make this his normal game.
Not sure what Sangakkara was on about, post-match, with regard to the wicket – if Akram says on air he thought the pitch suited the pacers better at night, most would believe that.

Dailymotion’s been down for 3 days now – contacted them and they responded that it was serious issue with their servers. Youtube was also down in some parts of the world, so had no choice but to opt for the slower but long-standing Sapo, around whom much of this site has been built, anyway.

However I see a lot bad comments ironically by cricket fans of Asian descent against Sri Lanka. You guys in India, Pakistan jeolous or something about Sri Lanka.
