Watch cricket highlights: Sri Lanka vs New Zealand 2nd Test at Colombo, Day 3’s play – August 28, 2009.

Scoreline: NZ 234 all out | Herath, Murali 3 each
SL 157/2 (2nd Inn) – Sangakkara 64 no

Considering the opening attack of Murali-Herath (in for Mendis), one was hoping McCullum-Taylor would take their chances and at least attempt to dent them rather than hang around for the inevitable. If there is an NZ pair that can at least try this, it has to be them. Not to be. NZ seemed caught up in trying to avoid the follow-on and rebuilding, which was most likely to not happen anyhow.

Viewers were also informed today that Herath had a carom ball before Mendis. Didn’t know that. The rest of the day was about Sangakkara looking majestic – something he has done often recently before getting out. Day 4 with him and Mahela seems a hard outing for the Kiwis.

    When Jayawardene and Murali are in form, it is very difficult to defeat Sri Lanka.
