Pakistan gave in to the perceived popular opinion dropping Salman Butt and playing Alam in his place. Oddly, the person who seemed the most likely drop for the game – Shoaib Malik – looked the most comfortable today on a pitch that didn’t pose too many real issues. Not to say that Pakistan may not have been bowled under 100 if Salman had played, but to drop him and have two inexperienced openers seemed a hasty decision after the 1st Test loss.

In any case, SL needed to bowl well to take advantage of Pakistan’s messup and that’s pretty much what they did, with Kulasekara’s stock incoming deliveries deviating quite a lot today. We can now expect SL to pile on the misery over the next couple of days without any intention of batting again in this game and that would be that, barring some miraculous stuff from Aamer-Gul.

   hha, bowled out for 90 on the first day after winning the toss and deciding to bat!!! thats even with more diabolical umpiring decisions in favour of pakistan, otherwise they probably made even less than 90 and without murali. whats really funny is that butt ithink was their top scorer when they collapsed 2nd innings last test and they replace him! the only reason they didnt replace manzoor is because hes young. how many continued failed innings does he have to score before they get the message? younis and yousuf have such high batting averages because they have to bat longer every innings to make up for their failed openers.

    Seems Pakistan only show their true colours when the chips are down and all odds are against them. Go figure! 2nd Inn: Deficit recovered and loss of only 1 wicket but tomorrow might bring something completely mesmerising again. Bring it on.

    Hi all
    Before u talk about Pakistan cricket team, just go on cricinfo.com and watch the records plz.
    Pakistan beat Sri lanka more in test and ODIs then Sri lanka pakistan.
    And same against India.
    Plz respect Pakistan, till Sri lanka and India has achived as many victories as Pakistan.
