The Angelo Mathews fielding moment video with Ian Chappell and Anil Kumble on the case
Watch cricket highlights – Sri Lanka vs West Indies Highlights from the 2009 T20 Cricket World Cup
Scoreline: Sri Lanka 192/5: Sanath Jayasuriya 81 (47), Dilshan 74 (47) – Lendl Simmons 3-19-4
West Indies 177/5: Dwayne Bravo 51 (38), Lendl Simmons 29 (19) – Mendis 4-25-2, Murali 4-21-1
Sanath tearing into bowlers yet again with Dilshan playing some of the most ridiculous cricket shots around. Throughout the IPL he regularly played the scoop over fine leg, but this World Cup he’s straightened the shot even finer. So pretty entertaining stuff from the two. Fidel Edwards (like many strike bowlers who are used to taking wickets), after the initial pounding from Sanath, rather than looking for run-curtailing deliveries seemed to be thinking of how he’d celebrate after he’d scalped Jayasuriya and in the process got pounded even further. Not much scope for the middle-order to be tested as a result of this performance.
West Indies without Gayle took the game pretty close and surely there must be a way of retaining Simmons when Gayle does return. Stylish flamboyant stuff from Bravo as always. At the moment, Sri Lanka seems to be relying on shock-value – Mendis whom most of the internationals haven’t played against and Murali (who can still shock most players). When up against a team with more experienced batsmen and better players of spin, their reliance on Malinga as their most dependable pace bowler might just come unstuck.
The third video discusses the Angelo Mathews moment that’s bizarre or brilliant depending on which side you’re on. A slightly different situation from the Adam Voges moment, this one. Ian Bishop on air suggests a weird possibility and Harsha being Harsha promptly throws that up to Chappell and Kumble – of course, there’s only an implicit suggestion there that it was his idea. Nothing direct. But then that’s Harsha and the Fart of Survival across a decade and more in the commentary box. Oh God. Will that be Buchanan’s next book of choice to read from – the Fart of Survival.
Pregame: Much like yesterday’s NZ vs SA game, this one’s primarily about sizing each other up and I suppose (for the captain of each side) to see how individual players are shaping up. Gayle is apparently injured – just wondering if Lendl Simmons will get that spot. Seems one of the more classier West Indians to drop into the team since Marlon Samuels. Also, this is the kind of game that Sangakkara would like to seriously test out Mubarak and Chamara so that all talk of the weak SL middle-order can be put to rest.
hate having to police comments as everyone’s entitled to their opinions and personal prejudices. When it comes to what is racism, it’s hard to define – are the Indian fans who mock Bangladeshis as culpable as those who use Ponting as a face to go after the Aussies. It’s grey and hard to pin down. But in an attempt to keep it simple, will be deleting any comment that doesn’t talk about cricket or is site-related (as in related to the videos and site content). Even cricket-related comments that use a team’s loss to raise political issues or put down a community will be deleted. Do understand that most of the people visiting the site come here for a highlights video and nothing else
jayasuiya got runs after long time keep this untill to end og toenment
Not a bad reply from WI. Good game
Its realy good to watch cricket Hilght
tv drama news
Wel don Sri lanka
In my opinion any ball outside or on the rope need to be called a boundary, rather than analysing if it was in ‘air’ while it was caught or stopped. “BOUNDARY” means – That which indicates or fixes a limit. So, to read fine print it should be the distance, and obviously if the ball is in air over the rope, certainly it has travelled the distance which defines boundary.
absolutely brilliant cricket… SL has a good chance of winning
Great to see Jayasuriya in Cracking form and Dilshan inventing the mother of all strokes…
Fab fielding by Angelo Mathews. No words to say about his spot thinking , quick reaction.
great man
good batting by bravo
Fielder cannot stand outside the boundary, and then push it back into play. That should have been a six. By the way, why is harsha wearing a wig?
It’s a hair-transplant he got done before the India tour of NZ, the unveiling of which was done here
Hartiest Wishes for u all ……… well done sri lanka
Well-done srilanka for winning the match keep it up. In my opinion on Angelo Mathews fielding moment, it was a nice try but for rules that decision is not right. In the future everyone will go out of the boundary line and do like this it was a bad decision as a srilankan my opinion is we don’t need such points to win a match cheers.
hay don. u dont like criket or drama?
Chamila I agreed with u mate.
Innovativeness and creativity is the key. Not necessary to follow the tradition. Sri Lanka will rewrite the history again as they did in 1996.
from ananda
fillder cant stand outside & it was a six run I think it was a bad signal by umpir.
wow well done sri lanka good feeldings
WRT to the fielding…the player may be able to cross the boundary, but not the ball. It was a six.
great to srilanka back in form, hope they take it all the way
it should be out
he catch i first, throw it in to air ….story comes.
